Greetings ladies and gentlemen!
I planned to host some contest for some time (besides I am donating monthly money as hero) for additional support of the site and some modellers. As there is no old Donation button to donate, and I have no paypall account so far, but I got an idea! Here we can promote banners, our projects.
Then I got an idea to buy that banner for project to host some mini modeling contest, banner of 60$ but to last 7 days (20$), which means 20$ to the site and 40$ to the winner! Win-win situation for everyone, site receive some money, plus people get stimulated to join contest, more views, more activity due to this etc etc...

But I have to create this thread first so we can proceed as Ralle needs link to get attached to the banner itself. Those images you see above are the ones I had to create for banners as it forced me, can't be empty.

THEME OF CONTEST: Scary Monster (from Media)
Initially I planned classic horror monsters, but then I decided its better for this time that you can make any famous or less famous monster you wish from any movie, tv show/series, old/new/classic/modern, any visual media or online book or any game you wish. BUT NOT WC3 or STARCRAFT games, definitively no Pitlord, Dreadlord, Zerg etc.. anything introduced here. Any other games allowed.

RULES: Well thats up to moderators/staff as it will be discussed and expanded, but right now here is this:

• Model for Wc3 SD, not Reforged HD. Must be good to be approved as Recommended at least like any regular model in Hive. No substandard, just recommended quality.
• Model can't be downloaded anywhere else before this contest. Must be either your work from scratch or can be based on any stock Blizzard's WC3 model we got in the game, as recommended models have right as well. But you cant use someone's else model even you have permission. Your pre-made and WIP models from images you posted are allowed as long as they are not released anywhere before! No cooperation with anybody for unfair advantage.
• Animations must be at least basic ones: Stand, Walk, Attack, Spell, Death, Decoy Flesh and Bone, Dissipate and Portrait. The more you have the better for you I assume. Portrait can be built in already or can have separated portrait file as always. Yes, despite some model or characters uniqueness, some anims can be absent such as dissipiate or talking portrait, or decay flesh/bone. You do not expect some rock monster or skeleton to have flesh for example.
• Custom skins - Allowed if someone wants.
• Picture from any media (poster or screenshot) you took idea from. Yes, we all know that SD model can't match movie quality of course, but this should resemble your screenshot character to some extend.

REWARD: 40$ should be for winner. Also, plus perhaps some icon awards for 1,2,3 place and reputations as it always like with this, but I cant guarantee that. Its up to staff.

VOTING SYSTEM: Unfortunately, as this supposed to be mini contest, for now must be popular vote, one user-one vote as we do not have judges and I do not want to force anybody into this. So this must be DEMONCRACY for now. For limited time people will have to vote for winner, and who wins the most votes he will win. Now if you disagree and have different proposals, Okay, maybe some people will volunteer to be judges meanwhile, we shall see, but now I cant afford judges myself, cant find them or pay them. And definitively I am not going to force staff or Ralle to find judges for this.

TIME: Since funds are transferred (as for now 29. May) we will discuss this, but once the contest begin you will have enough time for modelling, do not worry about that. For now we are communicating.

Fun idea! It's unfortunate you're excluding games from your list of scary monsters though. I think we've had some amazing and interesting creepy creatures from gaming.

Thank you Villagerino! I am glad to see you here! But why just watching thread, why not join contest yourself? As far I know you are pretty much capable of modelling this level.
,,any scary monster but not lore related" what zou just wrote will be considered definitively, but not many monsters are made from media directly. If you go to my thread in signature you wil lsee that many of them I had to recreate myself due to lack of any present in our model sections. You do not have classic Dracula recreated, no Wolfman (although there are werewolves), no wicked or any witches on broom, no single invisible man, phantom of the opera, Dr. Jekyll Mr Hyde, King Kong and many others. And some that are made, most of them are made at least once, one version at all. You got one xenomorph, two Predators (one is ancient) and so on, so yeah, media related monsters are pretty much low at choice here, with many popular characters nonexistent in model section at all.

If you ask me of course, why not. I just said (as in any contest before, logically) no released assets anywhere. Model cannot be downloaded anywhere. WIP or pre-made as you named it are not considered released of course as far I am concerned. I bet that many pro modellers also have their own unfinished models that will adapt to purpose. I am not 100% sure but I suppose. Why would anyone start model from zero if he has some unfinished that only needs some tweaking and adapting. So yeah, I have no problem with that.

Ye, true. I thought that if we're gonna have a not official contest then the rules could be tweaked but this what I asked seems unfair, hmm, even though I wanted to use a tiny bit.

What you say guys, but if you must create something only for this event many people would not do it because they start their projects already, and need to abandon them for this small contest. Not to mention that many people are working for money, taking commissions so definitively wont abandon their paid project over this. Now, winning in contest and earning prize, winner-icon and reputation makes them more pro and worthy for commission as well, thus i have to think about that and have in the mind.

Yes, I realized that as well because it required me to put pictures small one and big so I did not have time much, I did not know it will be immediately online after payment I though that you can arrange when it becomes online. Maybe I will update it if I continue with ad again, but its not a big deal when you hover over images it says that its hosted mini contest. When you click on image it directs you here so no big deal at all. When someone sees vampire, werewolf, frankenstein, witch, ghost, skeleton it says you at look that its something about these monsters, its not about flowers, rainbow and unicorn people are not that stupid here I believe.

Yes, I had to do this here because Ralle told me. The system must have link, so I gotta open thread and promote it here. And yes for now we still need to fully brainstorm this as I did have rules initially but people wanted changes, so Okay, whatever they wished, I adapted it.
We also need to see how many people will officially engage in this before proceed. But we have good sign here, Stefan.K is officially on, and we have Jab1z considering this as well as Villagerino. And we need at least three contestants. For 1,2,3 place. But more the better. I am also trying to get Misha involved as well and tagged few other people, I will tag them again.

Also, I did not say this so far but I was donating more meanwhile so I can get prizes for second and third place! Yes, this is on works, more prize, more prize! But I wait Ralle to confirm me as he respond once for a while. He got busy most likely, but he will confirm, no problem. But I do not like to speak anything before he confirms.

Hello everyone! The money is all setup we can proceed slowly just be patient please. But its confirmed that money prizes are ready.
I recently created paypall as well because it could not be done other way, Ralle checked the system.
Then I sent to Ralle 100$ for this purpose:
1 Place: 40$
2 Place: 25$
3 Place: 10$
25$ is left as donation to the site! (also I donated 25$ plus 10$ as anonymous some time ago because I did not have PayPal) I also plan to do another donation soon via paypal for the site itself to contribute more.
Have in mind that even if this fails, all money goes to the site so it wont fail even if it fails.
But we wont think about that now. The goal is next: winners get prize, the site also receives some money for the running costs and so on, plus we bring some quality models here, plus some activity and views!
Some of that we achieved already, but this is only beginning!

Oh gentlemen, we got administrations attention as Ralle send Archian to help out when needed due to amount of prizes and contribution, which means that our small contest has little more importance now. Archian the Great will see to adapt post to be more professional and more suitable. I would need his help for new thread when we officially start.

Hello everyone. I don't know how to create miniatures, but I'm leaving you with some suggestions for these characters so you can create your own. You won't regret it. At least create the Dracula from that game. He has incredible powers. The design is luxurious. The only Dracula I like. On the other hand, his design as a human and as a monster is impressive. No one has created a miniature like this for Warcraft Reforged today. It's the perfect opportunity to create a miniature for this tremendous protagonist.

Well theoretically it can start any moment if we wish, but we wait until you guys still give suggestions about final rules and wishes of contest, because after it officially starts we cannot change anything. So use this time to brainstorm further. Also, from what I understood you all need some more additional time for making models, so start working on them and save some WIP, starting screenshot, whatever. Prepare yourself, this is gonna be good!

Of course you can! I am glad that you join thats why it is still open.
Those rules will be the same, it was open if anyone suggests it before officially starts. basically it like this shortly: common Hive rules must be followed, your own work must be not released anywhere, contest theme is a monster from any media (movie, game, book etc...) non Blizzard one and you will have to provide one WIp there as it is a custom here, plus picture reference which monster you are making. Just screenshot or poster or anything will be enough. Tahts it. Prizes are yet to be expanded.

I am going on vacation tomorrow for one week after that it can start anytime. Will talk to Ralle and Archian shortly after came back.

By the way I just donated 30$ (25$ and some euros) to Ralle as further support to site regarding contest.

2. Model moderation - yeah moderator must review this to make sure models are approveable (you will have time to fix them if needed) before going to vote
3. Voting
So, I guess this month cloud be for wips and showcase while September can be for moderation (that depends of moderator) and some time for vote. I would give month or less to vote. But I am sure we will enter in end of summer and beginning of autumn and you know what is it? Its Halloween season! So we will have amazing models for this Halloween season, very unique.
Also guys, I spoke to Ralle, he said that all contestants regardless of place can get some experience points (once their work is approveable of course) with 1, 2 and third place get more logically, as an addition to money prize already provided!

Well, Mummy is also always cool idea, plus it is type of classical monster being in the first 4 Universal monsters. Well, now I do understand that if someone makes it that mummy will be more detailed, modern and different, but still... good addition definitively.

Hello Vinz the legend! If you start slowly already you will actually have more than six weeks, because it will be few weeks since we officially start. So do not worry about that. It is mid August now, it will be until late/end September with modelling most likely.
Also, guys Jab1z is also in, he is not commenting here much due to situation, but we talked privately, he also agrees on all of this. Only johnwar did not talk to me for some time, waiting for his reply. We are all good! I will most likely donate some money again.
