hehe, time for me to post after long time. You guys count only Active members and Registered, but in inactive members there are bots too :cgrin:
haha I am joking. I have seen only once bot bypassing Hive's anti bot protection. He posted a thread, and I replied to him. Some staff members told me that it is bot, and they bannadar'd him immediately.
haha and you do not count banned members, and their multi accounts :cgrin:
But on more serious note, that is not just on Hive, it is like that in any site. There are more inactive members than active ones. What is the more amazing is that most of inactive members have 0 posts! I could never understand after all those years in internet why the hell people waste their time to register when never visit site again! I really cannot understand that.

Just so they can do things that only people with accounts can do, even though thats basically nothing here :ogre_hurrhurr:

Yep... Already happened to me. And I came back form a seven year absence just a few weeks ago.

Wc3c had this problem, too. Especially back in the days when it still an active place. Some of the mods were jackasses-- one of them even felt they had the authority to change someone else's intellectual property without the original author's consent. I got pissed off, chewed out the moderator that did it because what he did was illegal, got all of the admins' attention, then proceeded to chew out the admins because they were just going to hand wave it and give the moderator no punishment whatsoever.

Well it's true, somebody had to say it. Most members of the site are assholes, I mean, say something they don't like and they flame the shit out of you, the craziest thing is, some of them are mods, and most of them are members who nobody wants to touch, like Pyramidhe@d and The Silent.

That, is very TRUE :goblin_sleep:

SHHHHHHHHHHH!!! You have to leave the country, they'll be coming after you now for this!

Thing is, most people in the world are assholes.

if i make myself look stupid, why do you label such a hateful name to me, calling me an asshole? wouldnt you just call me stupid instead?
or is it because there is a clear difference of being an asshole and being stupid
if that is the case, why do you call something which that something is not? that sounds rather irrational to me...or as you would call it...stupid

Mods in general are good, they help out the community and keep things running.
But every so often someone becomes a mod that doesn't care about the community and only cares about their title, that is a bad mod.

Same here. I remember Vexorian getting annoyed at the fact that Starcraft 2's programming language is not has lenient as Warcraft 3's. They did it on purpose-- probably mostly to avoid the potentially abusive bugs that generating user-made code can cause, but still... I can't honestly say that SC2's world editor is any better or worse, but from other people have told me it took a couple steps forward and a lot of steps backward.
If they made it less lenient with that purpose, then it was a dumb call. I read somewhere that a guy found 3 or 4 major glitches in Wc3 ("virus maps" enablers) and that he's planning to abuse them one by one as Blizzard releases patches to fix them (they're not even doing this). My point being that anyone who's determined will find ways to exploit the game. Blizzard just needs to patch them as they appear, penalizing modders because someone takes immense pleasure in cracking the game is a bad approach to fix the problem.

(...)
Thing is, most people in the world are assholes.
Might be true, but we did not use to have this much trouble back in wc3sear.ch. At least not within the staff, I can assure.

Rui means that many more users that are not staff are much more rude. Agreed. Mods have a title designated by admins where regular users are just users, so when a user causes trouble it usually gets ignored because they're not a particularly important person. When a staff member does it, it is a big deal, because 1) they should be mature enough to understand that power does not equal permission to be an asshole and 2) they are supposed to be responsible with the power given to them.

"Thing is, most people in the world are assholes."

Don't tell us that. A lot of people may be jerks, but that's not an excuse to be a jerk. If that's the best reason anyone has to be a jerk, you're worse than the people who are rotten because you're using them as leeway to be an ass. Might as well say, "I act stupid because there are real stupid people."

Oh yeah, that that image about mods: The message is ambiguous and LOADED with weasel words, thus allowing it to be EASILY abused. Likely done on purpose, so don't use it.

You want to know an extreme example? I have come across a number of Atheists who say that because no God exists they have every permission to act like a f$@#ing retard and do whatever the s%$@ they want to do in the world. What's so hypocritical about what they're doing is that by calling themselves Atheist, they are identifying with a religion because their version of being Atheist has a structured belief system. I can't even comprehend that level of stupid.

If we're gonna get into a conversation about assholes and jackass staff, this thread is more or less going to be closed.

But on that topic, most of the 'asshole' mods are assholes because they have public appeal. The community loves an artist for his art, so he gets a promotion, and turns into a dick. Nothing. Is. Done.

Better to ignore it, pay no mind to it publically, and hope they don't decide to villify you.

In that this topic seems like it'd be nice to keep unlocked, I'll just suggest we stick to the programming language bit that's going on.

I didn't outright call you in asshole, I put you in a group of people I consider to be assholes, for treating people like shit, in cases that I have seen. If you'd like to continue this conversation VM me, I've brought this thread off-topic enough.

Take that.

Or on a serious note: Pyramidhe@d is not only a skillfull modder, but also a very very good moderator. And if there is anything you need help with in his moderation responsibilty he gives you his full knowledge... always.
So bitching is not justified.... at all.

And now, back on topic.

I already negrepped M0rbid to show my disgust toward his behaviour.

Anyhoo, I see a lot of very active members in the forums.. not as active as other websites, but hey it's an old game!
Not to mention other websites have already started an 'extensive' (somewhat, I use that term lightly) amount of resources for the Starcraft 2 modding and gaming community (so I've heard), so this website will have at least 20 million years before it kills itself in a trolling accident.

You're just pissing on my rug now M0rbid and it really ties the room together.

Jeeze leave it to a troll to trigger something wrong...

In my eyes, warcraft3 is dead.
SC2 will never compare in terms of likeability, but everything in WC3 is just too old to wrap my head around.
I'd still play if there was a half decent population and I could search a game without getting 11/13 dotas on the screen.
It essentially ruins the game for me (the dota population) because I can never find any good hosted games and when I host one nobody joins :s

Edit: Also.. ladder is zzz now.

Just play singelplayer games/campaigns, people just need to start making them instead of multiplayer maps that will never be played =/

True.

ladder is zzz

False. There are so many people playing ladder compared to custom games it's amazing. I have never been denied a game when searching in ladder.

Here is the deal: So many war3ers moved to sc2 even mapmakers. Those don't long for a new game when they can do what they want on it, sc2, so Blizzard don't care much about what is left here to still want to make war3 things and so does it seem so far.

Also they said esports is their top priority and I am glad of this sentence of theirs, but with a sc2 maps market im sure they don't look back to war3 even for mapmaking. WoW, SC2, D3 are new generation games with new bnet and Blizzard will be following this 'new generation'... Get over it already.

To me it now looks like whoever knows a lot about making custom AI for a non-mele map should write a few tutorials to get people going on AI making. At least there would still be awesome multiplayer maps (if we can make a god enough AI).
