Apparently there were almost 100,000 players so far, but after some update Ralle reduced that to less than half of them to filter out stuff I guess, but I do admit the community is quite active and many new members join daily, so I doubt it's dead.

If you call one-time visitors 'members', sure THW is full of such

One-time members eventually come back you know.
I was a one-time member myself back in 2008 :p
I came back on August 6, 2010 to download models, icons, etc...
But on January 21, 2011, I started posting, uploading spells and systems, and getting involved with the community.

I know we shouldn't count "one-time" members.
Anyway, a new "involved" member with potential joins every 2-3 days :p (I always encounter them in the WEHZ) :p

And the map was pretty terrible ;)

I played it a few months ago :p (I was browsing and I found that I had already downloaded a Warchasers II). When I saw the name "Bribe" practically everywhere :p, I knew that it was what you were reffering to in this thread.
It's really bugged btw >.<
My brothers kept going perma-invulnerable and farming all the creeps :p

And there's people like me. Make an account. Leave for seven years. Come back going, "Hey, I remember this place," and then, "Wait. I made an account here? LOL" x3

I will... submit something within the year. I hope...

I've been at Wc3c.net as it dies slowly, but I'll admit that I forgot about the Hive when I found that wc3sear.ch was put down and I was e-mailed the website's new address (then erased it thinking I wouldn't forget). Yes, all a loooong time ago.

Perma invulnerable? How's that?

Yeah I know it bugs, I built that when I was almost brand new to wc3 modding.

I think I will revive that map with my new skills ;)

I used to be active in another forum and always believed I'll never be active in Hive because I always thought it was a forum too 'advanced' and 'high-class' for me, but ever since I became a member at 2008, I came back to the Hive at around 2010 and never stopped ever since.
