HaradrimPalace

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Got bored from working all the time on contracts, so i decided to invest about 2 hours in making this building. It's the ''Haradrim Palace'' from Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth (LOTR BFME), where all kinds of Haradrim (except Mumakils) are trained! It serves a lot of purposes. It can also be used as a Saracenian tent or eventually as a beduine watch-camp or outpost. If it gets approved, I'll make some special infantry guys that will be attachable like attachments to this building. The attachment point for such is ''Haradrim infantry ref''. Hope you like it as much as my Haradrim Archer. ;-)
Feel free to use it in any way. Have fun with it!

EDIT 1: Thanks to Verhalthur's idea, this model could be improved a lot. He recommended me to replace the tusks' from the Orc-Birth with those from the DraneiHut model, which look more realistic indeed. Thank you for your help, Verhal! ^^ If you want to give credits and/or repu, than don't forget him! ;-) Also changed a bit the front part of the tent and added another pair of tusks. The wrapping mistake from the tent's ''walls'' has been fixed too! The model performs better now and looks more like the (upgraded) Haradrim palace from LOTR: BFME series.

EDIT 2: added a base to it and fixed the problem with the Stand_Work_Emitter. It was wrong positioned on the previous version. Tested it some times ingames, it works as I want now! Better performing than before.

EDIT 3: renamed the attachment point, to which a Haradrim Infantry model can be attached (the top-platform) into ''OverHead Ref''.

EDIT 4: just applied the "new optimization method" at all Haradrim models i made. Filesize has been reduced and quality slightly more increased. I further changed the base's texture into the Replaceable ID 11 (cliff texture). Now the base will change texture according to the tileset used, which (IMO) is more suitable than the grassy orc building base texture.

EDIT 5: replaced the texture of the base.

I doubt saracens put in elephant tusks in front of their 'palaces' (which is more like a tent) and they looked differently anyway. And maybe you should make bigger foundation so it may fit better on uneven terrain (da ne izgleda ružno).

Go watch Lord of The Rings, Mechanical Man, or read the book, this has nothing to do with the Middle East.

It can be used for medieval Middle-East maps or African tribes, but yes, its main purpose is the Haradrim Palace.
@ Mechanical Man: here is a pic of the concept: http://img452.imageshack.us/img452/8819/sshot0005as9.jpg I just made it slightly different so that i don't have a 100% identical model with the LOTR game from EA. My Haradrim Archer also isn't 100% identical with those from BFME.

He is making Haradrim, not Saracens like in real life.

Though anything Arab and middle eastern is not mentioned about Haradrim, it is obvious that Haradrim look middle-eastern and Arab.

It does not look suitable for African tribes, the African tribes have primitive adobe mud houses made of straw roof.

I like the style, but I recommend the Draenei Hut texture for the tusks. The cloth wrapping on the hut tusks might fit more than iron spike rings on the orc building tusks.
hm, sounds quite nice to me  will try it later...i guess i should change the cloth parts from the sides as well....they need some fix :vw_sad:

ok ive decided, im gona use these haradrim models in my titan land map for a faction race. if you make the swordsman model possible the chieftain model (the one who is seen in the movie commanded the munakul) then even better.
the guy you mean, who was commanding the mumakil in the movie is the one who is called mahud. That's the name Indian (NOT native American) elephant-commanders have too  well, he'll be a part of the mumakil and this is going to be the model made last from the Haradrim collection. I'll make the easier ones & remaning contracts first. bonus: I'll also make a mumakil-pen building & a Haradrim watchtower later

Reminds me of a Orc watchpost or even a camp tent for a group of Centaur, or even a desert man that loves Egypt.

For some reason the base comes out to be a white blob.
As said in the PMs, the white blob is just in Magos and such present. Ingames it shows the corresponding tileset of the map. It's made the same way as the tree of the mountain giants. It also appears white in Magos, and changes ingames according 2 the tileset used.

Yeah, same problem for me. But i really like this model; its exactly like the battle for middle earth structure.
Same as above.

Thx a lot. :ogre_haosis: i gave my best to make it look as similar as possible as the BFME structure

Uncle Fester responded to all but those last comments... The White Blob makes this model almost useless, Shame as it was quite good.
I was inactive for a long time..... the answer is above. ty :ogre_hurrhurr:

you mean the hill underneath it?

"we've put up the HaradrimPalace!"
Ah,the nostalgia.I played the hell out of BFME 2
.....yeah, it's a pretty nice game.

Thanks for updating this. It's indeed useful for many LotR maps.
However, the new texture for the "hill" won't fit a lot of terrain tilesets. I suggest remove it all together i.e. the "hill" so it can be used with any tileset and still look great.

Keep up the good work :goblin_yeah:
Yeah, i guess removing it is the best way to go. Anyways, thx a lot for your advice so far! :ogre_hurrhurr:
