Cute Lass

This bundle is marked as high quality. It exceeds standards and is highly desirable.
Female Old Vailian ship captain. She likes men with blonde hair, and fights with cutlass... You get it? Cute Lass with cutlass, hehe... Alright.
I was Inspired by Pillars of eternity 2 and Warhammer: Rogue Trader.

Special thanks to:
johnwar - base model and hair (cora redfist and tyrande whisperwind) ;
asssssvi - cutlass and hat (flibustier and captain morgan);
himperion - boots (from fastrider sorceress);

Model not finished: sanity check, hair animation, spell, spell throw etc.
Changelog: sanity check: collision shape, unused and warnings (bone_irises is used but it shows it's unused? Jeez), spell slam is faster now and duplicated to stand victory (also i hate MOP, optimizer)

UPDATE:
23rd April: Added reskins, plus they have different "photos" in stand - 4, portrait reworked for these.
29th June: Added footsteps for other walk animations, added sound for 3 double swing attacks and 2 single attacks, added jaina death sound, added collision shape.
1st July: Added ribbon on attack slam

The animations would benefit from more juice, but it is still good custom made !

Yeah, Gluma charmed me with his old plate armor knight (that had blue skin and less polygons before update, still have that skin). About animations, I do them without guidance and they end up without "personality", like this one "Walk" is made from scratch but it looks like I CnP WOW default human run... Although I'm satisfied with Stand animations.

Today I happened to find myself disliking Mdlvis and MOP, TC background had broken visibility after optimisation and I tried to "uncheck" the visibility, but it didn't even remove. This is a reason to start learning Blender asap...

Can her eyes look forward instead of looking left and right during the conversation?When creating a movie character conversation on a map, that shot should follow the portrait. The effect of looking left and right is not attractive.I hope you can fix it so that I can give a rating.

Beautiful model! I like the double hit attack animation. Have you got ideas how make sound play twice?

It had camera like that, but i didnt use it, yes, eyes are unanimated. Most of portraits look left and right and dont look straight in player's soul, they look somewhere far away and dont notice you. Perhaps troll berserker and mountain king rarely look at you, but i will change portrait talk and see what happens.

Lovely lass! A solid privateer lady with some great animations & proportions. Particularly love the hat-flourish-bow of Spell Slam/Stand Victory. Don't quite know how Walk Defend & Walk Alternate factor in (without the rest), but it's nice nonetheless to have options.

Do it, learn blender. Animating is great in it.
Having auto-IK is such a game-changer, seriously.
Hair, capes, robes, or whatever secondary animations can be annoying, but blender helps to make it easier with auto-ik.

And being able to tweak your timings through the node editor is nice.

Amazing Portrait. I've always felt samey portraits were especially an issue with custom models, yet here you've made a very high quality, original and on top of everything a female one

If anything, I think the hero glow is a bit too strong
Thanks, agent Denton. Its actually my first try on making female portrait based on jaina talk, lips are attached to same bone as jawline

As a follow up to our short conversation, here is the model file I've tinkered with and an icon I've made. Also a simplistic map if you want to see the differences ingame.

I've basically just:
  • added a hero glow to the weapon, given all heroes have it,
  • brought the portrait camera a bit closer,
  • scaled the model, so there's no reason to scale it via the unit editor,
  • slightly speed up the movement animation,
  • and also made the icon,
  • also I've noticed just now that there are duplicate textures in the texture manager?

As for the things that I really don't think I should have changed, but again I was just tinkering for fun
  • Replaced the attack animations with attack slam animations (they are a bit snappier and original attack - 2 leaves the boundries of the selection circle which as great as it looks I don't think fits all that well with the original models). I probably shouldn't have
  • Increased the size of the right shoulder pad and I don't think I should have done that

Hope you don't mind any of the changes, again I was only tinkering with the model just for fun since I really love it; I'm not a model moderator or a great modeler at all. I'm only sharing these if you want to take any of these changes into consideration.

Also since she's a high elf, wouldn't she look cool in green? =)

I didnt know that you need to scale model in editor, she's 6'2 so it's possible for her to use steering wheel by one hand. Cool icon, is it ai made?

Does it look ai made? :huh: I wouldn't even know where to begin making it that way. I've made it in gimp.The quality of the image here is a bit distorted, the blp files look better

Is there a reason the human version doesn't appear in the 3D viewer ? Or is that a problem on my end ? I just see the elf and undead versions.

Ah, my mistake. Ill upload human version soon, the hair wasnt animated there. There was also night elf version, but I probably shouldnt add models with texture change only. I was planning to add spell, spell channel, spell throw animations since I saw model was used in custom campaign where there was a channel spell used by it
