Love the idea of working on a new map! :D

I'm thinking something like Lordaeron Tactics or Azeroth Wars - where each player controls a specific group of heroes/villains, and each player has different goals and events to achieve throughout the game :b
 
Mythic - None yet. We'll make the gameplay ourselves. More teamwork means more activity for the group :D

What kind of game cool-peon? What do you think of TCG? It can really go well in a long run since all of us can pretty much draw here, we can draw our cards easily. That goes for the newbies as well, we can let them design their own cards if they have an active character in the RP. Works like a bribe.

Why not make our own models? I can make a few. So I can become better at modelling and we get models. Two birds with one stone. And I had the idea of making a cinematics series of the events of the RP but You are kinda right... it's not so apealing.

How about a 2D map instead? something retro always makes people get interesed and also is WAY more easier to make. I wonder if warcraft alows 2D models. Never tried myself.

Something new... Something fresh... not just a RIP-off... A search and destroy map? I think I have never seen one of those... Or maybe a puzzle-maze the legend of link like map? Something else?

@Paillan: Kiva is Bern's character if I'm right. So she is not my second character. If I messed up the name, or did something wrong pls tell me :D

@ALL: I love the idea of a cooperation project like that. We can collect the artwork from the group, put it on cards, and make it an exciting game. It would both create activity, and draw in new members.

The only drawback is that its hard to cooperate. Especially in wc3 modding. We would have to send the map around, if we wanted to improve it. This would make the process long. If its a Card trading game, than we can focus on two different things. Game engine, and Content. The content can be uploaded in pastebins, or editable Google Drive folders. It makes it easy to access and manage.
Game engine should be easier. After the card trading game's skeleton is created, it should be easy to be matched with the content.

I wanted to put out some PR threads in the Roleplaying forums, and also in the offtopic section. The problem is that I hit some unexpected issues with my life & family. I hope to get those sorted soon.

If you want to make this game, We could make a new discussion thread for it, to focus attention :)
 
Paillan - Well, we do need some models. Other than the Card Battling/Dueling, we let players walk around the map and talk to NPCs. Like an RPG.

2D map is possible, just discovered it (I think I'm only one who knows how at the current moment). But unfortunately it does not exactly make our work any easier like expected, not in WorldEditor.

Cool ideas. Gameplay must give players a summary to the Kaelicious and the characters' lore tho. The idea is to "force" players understand the RP just by playing the map. It will serve as advertisement and a guide at the same time.

Kari - Don't worry about the game engine, got it all covered :D
No problem with 2D effects either, I discovered how to apply animated 2D sprites in-game, plus I'm pretty confident with my vJass-ing skills.
The images should be in icon-size though, to save space. We need tons of cards after all.

Yeah, we'll make it. But a discussion thread huh... I feel more comfortable in this thread for some reason, but okay.

Umm I have an idea:

Types of cards:

Beings: equal to creatures on magic or monsters on yu gi oh. The guys you play to attack.

Magic: cards you play to get an effect. They end in material-less zone at the end of the turn (equal to graveyard)

Accesories: things beings can use to be enhanced. What ever happens to the being using them happens to them.

Structures: cards you play in the back row that add some extra stuff. Until destroyed.

Food: what you use to play things. There's normal and magic food. Some cards need both and others only one type.

Non-player intervension: things that the player can't totally change:

Places: where the battle is being held. Has some minor effects for some decks.

Game zones:

deck: your deck

attacking row: where beings that attacked this turn are.
Front row: you play beings here
Back row: you play structures here. Some beings are played here as well.
Non-material zone: the place where are card that are destroyed end.
Non-existant zone: the place where cards end when they are removed from game.
Paid food: food used this turn
Food: you play food cards here.

The first edition would be demon rise, from the first halloween. The decks should be: trick or treat (humans vs demon), demon tournament (demon vs demon) and halloween mask (non-flesh beings vs demon)

Hmm... The WorldEditor is very limited for this kind of TCG. The font size isn't configurable (even in vJass), and we can't just place the texts anywhere we want, so..

I was thinking, instead of 'cards' literally, why not torn pages of an old book? We're writing a story right? It represents the history of Kaelicious, and how the story is told.

Then we just draw the images with an alpha channel for art submissions.
In-game, it will look pretty much like Bern's works in the Red Christmas Roleplay.

Gameplay ideas comes first tho. Might reconsider the 2D map if only we have an old paper tileset. We can draw the sprites/objects in that way too!

Pailan -Awesome! But let's start simple first. Only character and magic cards for now. We can just upgrade it bit by bit on updates :D

Bern - I thought you hated cards.
 
I was thinking of the alpha channel too for the cards. Just one texture for card skins then the descriptions/portraits will be individual. Which is just the same as your idea except different bg (cards, paper)

Oh, that text. Well rulerofiron made this textag system that enlarges then downsizes after some time.

Although, I'd prefer to have an Azeroth Wars: Legacy Reborn/Dark Ages of Warcraft/Coming of the Horde/War in the Plaguelands-kind of map, I do like your card game-idea! :)

Are you looking for a Card Shuffle/Warcraft 3 Card Game-kind of map? In that case, I have some pretty sweet ideas ^^

And I'd love to help create the artwork for the cards. I was thinking that you guys could upload artwork of your characters, I'll then make some art based on yours and add in detail, and then finally Bern/Kari could make the colors and the final touches? :)

Also, Paillan, I suggest we start out from the most recent events, instead of the oldest, just so that new people feel more interested in it. So Let's start from Kari's new roleplay, the one that is 15 years into the future. That means cards like Valentine Forest, Cupid, Mania, Kive & Ko, Yarrick, Dante, Cerbeo, etc etc etc :)

Neutral? Yarrick has openly say that he will rescue Cupid and Dante showed up to help him. Kiva will probably join Mania (bern should know) Alexandros is helping Valentino which I guess is helping Cupid?
Where's the neutrality.
To get thinga moving I just controlled Yarrick and Kiva a bit. If you don't mind.

Try defeating the "Mad Queen" if she is so lame. I agree that she lost some personality, and became just an Ultimate Evil. If someone would make posts with her, she could be better though.

@Am; I think you should join either side. If you join as one of Mania's servants, there can be conflict, which is more exciting against other players than NPCs. If you are having trouble making up a character, you could use Cerbeo too if you wish.

@Chen: Spirit world? What is that? Legend of Korra like spirit world? Why can't this whole thing happen in the real world, like it did one year ago with Chen & Valentino? I would support the idea of a spirit world, if it was conventional. At the moment, it isn't :(

But you explained. BTW, keeping the secret of Dante being Dual blades is something important... at least for now. Am, you can pick Lemar... as a mania servant. That would redeem the character for me. You may come to claim one of my swords. I never said you had to fight for good to get one.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
I was thinking, will today count as the big day that it actually is, or will this RP, like the "Christmas Battle Royale" where the final day of the whole month counts as the big day - for gameplay reasons? For I'm not sure I can write something in time :l

BTW, did Antonio die back at that Wall-battle? For I considered using him as my character - got a sweet idea in mind :b
 
Yaho~! Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm making a VN system (Visual Novel) to further improve our roleplaying. I was wondering if I could get an approval.

Basically, we draw 4 variations of our characters' facial expression (normal, smile, frown, angry/shout). Then draw different places of Valentine Forest in first-person view. And finally, one whole body (probably just top-to-knee) of the character with a transparent background.

It does look very good right now. Doesn't even look like WC3 anymore except for the cinematic UI Console. I'll send everyone a WiP as soon as I finish the background changing part. \(^o^)/

Overpowered? Hmm..

This, I think, is probably the best way to keep the newcomers interested in the RP. We can allow them to use the VN System as an alternative for roleplaying, if they don't like the book method (all-text method).
TCG's still a different matter. TCG is for making them join (advertisement). VN for keeping them. Btw, TCG looks just as good.
These are of course, if anyone has the motivation to cooperate. I don't see it though :\
