It's for the newcomers.
I figured, maybe the reason why we only have very few rolepayers in Hive is because they don't see the point of doing so. Most people here are just "post-here, post-there" and "sudden-friend", just to gain rep.
It can't be helped. It's just like the portrait box before, we can't remove it anyway, might as well use it to our advantage.

Expect a Work-in-Progress next week. Done with the basics already, just cleaning messy codes and adding special features now.
Bern, does the photo have a transparent background? I'm thinking of including sprites and, if maybe, I could use it in the WiP?

Will we be sued for copyright violations if we use photos we got from the internet, photos that are not ours I mean?

It's not ready yet and I have not bothered to continue it, and everything I do has a transparent background.

And it really depends. You need to give credit for them in the most cases or ask a permission. But most stuff should be allowed to be used despite all that as long as you have no intentions to make money out of anything you use it for.

I'm not starting a "Random Roleplaying thread" this month. The Valentine Quest thread is now opens up for all regions, and all characters.

Hmm, but it still lacks... a lot of things that should be included I think, lists maybe. I'll update it again after I add screenshots.

About the project... the map itself is lower than 100kb.
We won't need to pass the map every time, just the script. We'll pretty much edit just the lines/dialogues, so I think we can just copy and paste it. Easy as that.
The imported files are in a separate folder that must be placed in the Warcraft III directory. We won't need to pass the imported files too.
For now, that folder consists of 1 music, 1 soundfx, 4 faces, 2 backgrounds, and 1 font.
What else to say...

Local files yes. It's pointless to download the big map (w/imported files) every single time I make small changes to the system right.
We could easily rewrite them Bern. But we'll need the sprites/faces for them too so it'll take time.

Do you think a littlebit more "guided" roleplay could help for newcomers? I'm meaning more described environment: A dungeon with rooms where you have to get out from, and defined actions, objects to interact with.
Is this a thing worth trying, or does it oppose our traditions?

forcing actions is force. Hive is pretty dead this ways, people prefer watching TV than using their imagination. Let's keep traditional.

Being honest. There'd probably be people that would like to join, or at least would have a mild interest towards roleplaying. But this roleplay is far developed, it really is hard to join in. Not to mention to variety of old characters that still roam around. Them being mentioned, or even appearing creates "err.. who?" experiences for those who haven't got an idea of who or what they are. And weell I don't know. This really ain't the best site for this when it comes to that.

If we wanna try out something new, why don't we do like DP - make uploading terrains/artwork neccesary to continue the storyline? It would make the story more exciting to read through for newcomers who will then engage fully into the RP instead of making some passive character whose only goal is to earn rep points for its controlling member...

Well we could start with introduction posts. A character only can enter the story with an introduction post.

But i think PRing is more important issue, and I admit it is my mistake. The RP in April should be advertised both in the Roleplay subforum, and some social place - News, or Site Discussion.

Also, if you think it's matching, posts could be sketches for a scene in the Visual novel.

DP - Daily Peon, or Dark Prophecy. A social group similar to ours, Amar and Bern surely can tell more about it

PR = Public relations (according to google) - Its all about spreading information and advertising ourself. Getting to other people.

I suggest we get the Hollideus wiki going. It was not only meant for updating the personal project of mine, but also as some kind of a database for all kinds of lore information about the Kaelicious universe.

Nah it's not your fault. No one can save the world - DP didn't die because of its leaders in the end, DP died because of its members. I was inactive last month, so were many other members of this group. Activity comes and goes.

I joined because my Avataria-RP was dying out - a sad fate for a something you are in charge of yourself - so I sought out some simple, light-minded alternative, which somebody else were in charge of.
Kaelicious was special - it was active, and it was fun to be part of the evolution towards a more RP'ish community. It was great to rise among the people here, gaining respect for my submitted artwork and terrains, and it was nice to get to know new people.
What made me stay was the positive start, and the bonds I got to the RP in the group.

What made me join is the notification, and the post in the news page. It was something fresh, and I had the feeling that i can be a part of creating something. What made me stay is the nice contests, and the fun RP.

This tutorial looks really helpful, the second step is just about what you asked. If you want fancy highlighting for the chinese blabber i think you will have to download and install JassNewGen World Editor.
