This would be a cool feature. Adding a small quest for it with a nice blue item reward. Improved means +10% hp & mana. It can (to the ability of an AI unit) use its abilities effectively.
 
Hmm I think to make it simpler (still time consuming), add a predefined amount of spells (those who will make sense for an ai, so not taunt for instance), perhaps 5-6 will be enough. This way, a berserker "clone" would have jump attack, Heroic strike, rage, demoralising shout, etc. no matter what the specific player character has.
 
no? the bishop clone, if this happened which more than likely won't, numbers could be adjusted and not all skills would necessarily be used. Or the opposing bishop would have more mana or MANY other variables.

But no, it would not be impossible
