Hi everybody! I'm working at getting some models out of Warcraft so I can 3D print them.

So far I have used the Model viewer to extract them. Then a .MDX to .obj converter that works well.
The only issue is I can only seem to get the default freeze frame animation exported. Which is kind of a bummer because it only gets the buildings out halfway built, or summoned, or grown in some cases. I would like to be able to get the .obj file of a fully finished rooted Tree of Eterinity.

Does anyone have some advice on exporting a mdx file into a chosen animation?

Thank you for any help you can give!!

I import it to 3dsmax. Then I rescale the frames timeline so the rooted tree animation is on frame 0. I also delete some mesh. And then export it to obj.

Okay, I have been trying to recreate your magic. No luck. 3D stuff is really not my forte.

May I ask for you to spell it out bit by bit on how to get the rest of the Warcraft III buildings into .obj files? Or what would it take for you or somebody else to get them for me?

I will not be offended if you say no. I already really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Sorry for late response. Kinda busy.

1. Open 3dsmax, make sure you already have NeoDex installed. And then just import mdx with Neodex plugin. Just import with default setting

2. After imported, you see that its so confusing. Go to upper right you will see Manage Layers. In there, check Hide to all except geosets.

3. Go check below near "Keys", there is a "Animation Tag", click it and it will show kinda like this. You need to know what animation you wanted to have. For example, this Tree of Life stand animation is "Stand Alternate Upgrad......". Remember the frame (395)

4. Open Time Configuration (on bottom, right, a fancy icon that looks like a box, next to number "395"). Set "Start Time" to 395 (end doesnt matter), then click rescale time, set the new Start Time to 1.

5. And finally just export as obj, with default setting

6. To check whether you doing right or not, just import the obj that you exported

7. extra. you notice that the model is doesnt looks like ingame, because some geoset should be invisible. To fix this, just delete the mesh that should be invisible (for example, this Tree of Life has a fancy hand model and the unroot model, delete them), then export it again. And check again by import it.

edit: Just realized that you actually asked on how to export it from your first post. LOL. I thought you just request to convert it. So that why I didnt explain the process properly XD Sorry about that
