Dusk Gardens

「Dusk Gardens」

Gameplay

It's just a ruined/overgrown garden template map that I've done to kill my time faster.

Time has put an imprint on these long forgotten gardens. Where once there was beauty, peace and relaxation now there's only darkness, ruins and broken hopes.
Explore at your own peril, be alert at broken pavements and deadly plants that would make your visit (foolish choice) a real nightmare or struggle for your own life.

So here it goes.

To start off, this terrain template is simply inspiring I must say. I do even want to mimic your style if incase I'll make a garden part on my own project.

The terrain is simply amazing. As what CakeMaster said, every detail is decent to perfectly done. The template also shows how creative you are. Like how you made those deep water with reflections if I am not mistaken. You indeed have applied some advance terraining techniques here.

As for my suggestions though, I would have wished that there should have been more on the round tile pathways instead of simply placing a tile structure and some little tile variations which I must admit is great but is lacking a bit or cuts short at least for me. I suggest placing some overgrowing magical plants doodads if there is one already made and is walkable then just tint it to be dark if it's not yet dark. It adds some beauty into the terrain seeing that this is a garden template, it would definitely fit. There could have been lesser rock spamming and tall grass patches spamming but it actually works well too so I can't complain as well, lol. Maybe replace some with flashy or eyecandy structure like glowing dark statues and etc, glowing dark-tinted overgrowing plants, some broken or destroyed columns or pillars and etc. Lastly, like what SonOfJay said, I find the roof a bit unfitting. Well, even if you won't replace it, I think it would be still better to give out my thought about it. If incase you'll replace it, I would suggest a castle roof with the same style with the castle walls you have in there.

I think that's about it. Rated 4/5 and Approved. +rep for a very inspiring template as well, it's been quite long since I saw a template this inspiring and well-made even if you only made this as some sort of bored seeing that you made this to waste time. What more can you make when you are pretty inspired? I wonder, pardon me for using the word "inspired" though, lol.

The terrain looks pretty overall but there are just some stuffs that I need to point out.

-The arcs, walls, pillar etc's purple tint doesn't really work. I believe something a little grey-ish will look a lot more better.
-The felsen rock's tint is a little too bright. I tinted it down making it more darker green and it actually looks a lot more better.
-Building's roofs looks totally out of place. Wreck it then find a more suitable roof.
-The elevated land on the right part of the map where it have a stair. I think it would be a lot more better if you remove the rock that is blocking the path since it looks playable with that much of an area inside.
-I can still see some spammed rocks but I guess it kinda works.

Anyway. I did like the effort you put on making those path. The pond also looks very pretty. Oh and the details poured on the garden is just very admirable.

4/5 from me.

Map will probably work on a cinematic or some riddled type maps.

Yes, I used the Felsen Rock model for cliffs and rock details but tinted accordingly. Just letting you know so that I won't accept incompatibility issues xD

I also used the alpha tile to replace the abyss tile. Used it a lot for the waterways and canals that you see beneath the streets. It may appear black in the fog of war though, can't do anything about that. Enjoy!

Damn mobile. Can't download the great stuffs here today such as this. Anyway, judging from those screenshots for now, the terrain is simply amazing. Great details, neat, organized and to sum it up, a high quality template.

But still expect a full review from me. I, as a reviewer, is not satisfy on just giving praises but I must also give some suggestions for its improvements and it will all come in my review, coming soon, lol.

EDIT: Just a note though, I would also like to showcase SoJ's review seeing that it gives a short but great insight regarding the template.

I gotta say this is exceptionally well done. Usually terrain templates aren't given the total care and attention to detail that this one was. (Not to say all aren't, but this one is especially good) It is nice to see that you took the time to add in the little things, that only a few people out of a hundred would notice, imo that is what separates the truly great and perfectly detailed terrains.

Great job, I hope to see more and more of your stuff

Excellent! I love the terrain for what it is, rather than worry about its future uses.
I must say that I am a lover of gloomy doomy terrains and you have pulled it off very well.
Perhaps sometime we must work together on a co-terrain :D

5\5, you don't get this quality in template terrains
