Construction attachment bug: what causes it?

You know that bug where during the construction animation part(s) of the model attaches itself to a random unit instead of staying in the model? Does anyone know what exactly triggers it, and what causes it?

Edit: Ok, does seem to occur reliably, but the geoset can attach itself to seemingly anything on the map, so can be hard to spot. Once I figured which geoset it was, I created a new bone to attach it to, which fixed it. I guess the bone was corrupted somehow. Still curious if anyone knows how this is caused in the first place.

Edit 2: I have a feeling it may be caused by my Model Optimizer tool... I've had this happen to models multiple times now, but never seen anyone else talk about it I think.

i don't know what causes it but yeah reattaching to a bone fixes it
even though it shows itself being attached properly
i think this thread was about this
and this
maybe try converting it to .mdl, opening in notepad and see something there

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the second thread seems to mention the same bug, not sure if the first is exactly the same.

Ah yeah I should've done that. Would be nice to learn what exactly causes it. I've already fixed it and overwritten the previous version though :(
