Here is the image in full size. I can't give WIPs since I didn't take any screencaps during the work progress. I tried to upload the PSD file, but it was too big (it is 32MB) so if it is really necessary, I'll have to put it up on another website.

Looks good and I like that it is an improvised version of the death coil icon and recolored into purple (not saying your icon is a recolor though but an improvement shall we say).

What I would suggest is you make the eyes have this wild effects in it and cover the whole face with a little amount of purple flame. That would give it some more details in the front.

Anyway, over it's looking good and +rep.

Hmm, I wasn't really thinking of Death Coil when I did then
What I had in mind was making an icon for Shadowbolt from World of Warcraft. But instead making a new purple fireball, I'd add the projectile from the game.

I'll see if I can add some more fire around the face too soon

This is a really beautiful, well-crafted icon. Unfortunately I'm not sure how well it fits into regular War3 (as in, compared to the existing in-game icons)... But it's not too far off, just more contrast (I think). Besides, if your Avatar is any indication, making Blizzard-type stuff is totally within your range, so... Yeah, good luck, man, and welcome to the Hive.

Let me know if you get bored or need ideas.

You should make the shadow/energy/fog/whatever part a darker and clearer, as in somewhat transparent. It would look better that way in the icon. Right now, in the small icon version, that part simply looks like robotic flesh attached to the skull.

Apart from that, it looks really good. 4/5.
