This map reuses the universe from the movie and the Xbox360 game, to make something unique.
Some things may vary from the original movie/game, for the sake of gameplay and/or technical reasons.
Only the introduction is predefined, how it ends will depend on how good you fight.


Story
(/!\ SPOILERS WARNING)


Pandora: In the Alpha Centauri star system, a moon called Pandora is home to an overscaled flora, fauna, and the Na'vi people.
They're a race of sentient, civilized humanoids, way less technologically advanced than humans. The fact that they live in constant harmony with nature probably kept them away from this need.

Eywa is Pandora incarnate. The Na'vi believe that Eywa's actions keep all life on Pandora in a perfect equilibrium.

R.D.A.: The human R.D.A. (Resources Development Administration) has sent a large deployment on this planet to gather the precious room-temperature supraconductor mineral called Unobtanium. It's the key to solve the energy crisis that mankind found itself in.
Because of the extremely dangerous nature of the pandorian environment, operations are under heavy military protection.

Avatar: Planning to use diplomacy in order to obtain peaceful cooperation from the Na'vi, the R.D.A. has genetically engineered hybrids of Human and Na'vi races, called the Avatars. Their external appearance is mostly Na'vi.





Roles
Gameplay changes COMPLETELY from one role to another. Play as:

  • One of the four Human R.D.A. Corporations (Corps):
    Benefiting from their advanced technology, the Corps can build large and heavily defended bases providing protection from the deadly environment of Pandora.

    By using their different types of factories and their spaceships, they are able to build up powerful forces with world-shattering firepower.

    They apply organized military strategies, so their soldiers, mechas, vehicles, aircrafts, but also stationary weaponry and long-range artillery can eliminate any opposition, including Eywa itself.

  • One of the four Avatars:
    Taking advantage of both their human and na'vi advantages, the Avatars follow their instincts to guide them on Pandora.

    Making use of plants, animals, and everything they can find including human weapons, they train their survival skills to the level where this hostile planet becomes a paradise for them.

    Gathering forces from the whole environment, including the Na'vi, they eventually unite the planet in the righteous war against the human invader.

  • Eywa, the omnipresent overmind of the planet:
    A true living entity worshipped as a deity by the Na'vi protects Pandora.

    As the reckless Corps pillage, kill, and destroy, Eywa gets stronger and uses its planetary powers to stop them, before everything is ruined forever.

Features

  • A ton of carefully selected and exploited imports (models, icons, music etc...) provide an astounding gaming experience.

  • Alot of custom systems using vJASS, JASS, hashtables and GUI:

  • Units have alot of custom abilities and effects.

  • Advanced unit-item interactions:
    -Some units will drop their weapon (e.g. Flamethrower for Firebats) upon death, or when Disarmed by a special action;
    -You can pick up items on the ground to use them directly (like Avatars using dropped Rocket Launchers) or to change job (like Workers becoming Privates by grabbing SubMachineGuns);

    -You can mass-train workers into soldiers instantly in two clicks, with whatever type of weapon you want;
    -Soldiers can drop their weapons to become Workers, if you want to repair/build something for example;


  • Inventory systems:
    -The items a unit can use are restricted by the unit's type;
    -A unit cannot have weird amounts of some items, depending on where they are held: for example an Avatar has 2 hands, so it cannot have 2 lances + 1 shield at once.


  • Exclusive custom projectile system for many units:
    -For example: 30mm Autocannon users can miss depending on distance to target, and in that case their bullets can deal collateral damage.
    -Projectiles like bullets can also Ministun certain types of enemies, and score Headshots on independent types of enemies.
    -Projectiles like Missiles can knockback enemies where they land, deal mixed damage (siege + molecular, at once), etc...
    -Some units can shoot multiple individual projectiles at once, not based off warcraft's lame multishot ability, not 1 projectile with a model that looks like multiple projectiles either.
    For example, a Scorpion assault copter shooting two 30mm bullets plus two micromissiles, all behaving differently, yet all shot at the same time.


  • Riding System:
    -You can make your Avatar mount an Animal. it will carry your Avatar around but they remain separate units able to perform actions individually.
    For example while your ridden Toruk unit is chasing an aircraft, you can attack something else with your hero Avatar by throwing glaives, you can use your items, Persuade a unit, as if you were on the ground.


  • Custom Dollars (gold) and materials (wood) gathering systems:
    -Build metal extractors for materials, then forget about them, they'll keep providing you with materials while you focus on the action. You can also space-drop some from your I.S.V. spaceship (more info about this abit below).
    -Dollars (gold) is mainly obtained by exploiting Unobtanium Deposits not very fast with some workers, or dramatically faster when you manufacture dedicated vehicles that can just rip it off the ground and deliver it directly. You can also use space drops for this resource.


  • Quests for both sides, especially for Avatars, who have an RPG gameplay.


  • Mecha system (A.M.P. suits): Put your human soldiers and heroes in robots.
    Each type of foot unit gets its own corresponding type of AMP (a Firebat will get a robot with a flamethrower, a Rocket Trooper will get another type of robot, that shoots rockets, etc...)


  • Spaceship drops system: obtain more personnel or resources from your I.S.V. very fast, anywhere you or any ally have built a Space Pad at.



  • Custom camera system:
    -Use any zoom from "almost touching the ground" to "orbital height", abit like in Supreme Commander the actual game (except units don't become just colored icons).
    -Rotate the camera in all 4 cardinal directions fast and easily by just hitting keyboard shortcuts (toggleable).


  • Avatars special stats:
    -Understanding of Flora/Fauna/Na'vi/Humans: Obtained via killing, using Discover/Interact or performing special actions, they unlock new possibilites in their respective domains.
    For example you can play an Avatar focusing on harassing Humans. You'll increase your Understanding in that domain by doing so, and unlock new possibilities like Breaking AMP weapons or Sabotaging Corp buildings.
    Another example: you can focus on Understanding Animals and become able to Persuade increasingly strong beasts, in larger amounts, and get better items from them.

    -Charisma: obtained by killing units yourself, will increase your Persuasion capability.


  • Living and dynamic environment:
    -Trees regrow from their stumps when cut down, these stumps can be destroyed forever by R.D.A. workers;
    -Trees can cause special effects, like clouds of acid or mist disabling ranged attacks...
    -Animals respawn from their natural habitat, which can be destroyed forever;
    -Animals have specific behaviours depending on their types, they can be captured by avatars or controlled by Eywa.

So will the next version come out when the archer skin gets approved, or will you Na'vi-fy all the other units first?

Nah i won't wait that long before releasing next version :) i have been delaying it because Banefull was busy improving it, but he should be done very soon (maybe even today).
From that moment on it would take no more than a day or two to improve the balance drastically and do a whole lot of the changes that have been requested for quite some time now.

Also (probably in the version after that one, which i think has been delayed too much already) there will be alot of new content, especially regarding:
-animals: new types, new catagories, non-aggressive ones;
-flora: alot of new plants with alot of new effects, and not only when interacting with them;
-Corp and Avatar units: all holes in the strategic possibilities (dedicated Anti-Air, ambush, siege and molecular defenses, dragon supercopter, infiltration, scouting, etc) will be covered;
-Avatar gameplay: much more interaction with the na'vis, who will have larger, stronger and more useful villages aswell;
-and alot of other things i forgot.

You know, you could actually make so Humans wouldn't have scouting units so they would have to relly on the scanners more.

Humans are supposed to be the military pros, and scouting is among the very basic things that involves. The scanner will be improved and made more important, but you always want to see what's going on "with your own eyes" at some point.

Maybe you should add the flux vortex, where scouts could be forbidden and they should rely on the scanner.

Well maybe, altrough still I doubt about human scouts, everybody knows that in future humans are gonna use small scouting flyer drones.

Well that is precisely what i was thinking about :D
I never said it would be foot units, i was making a list of all the roles that need to be fulfilled somehow for avatar and corp units. The way that will be achieved is still undefined.

Maybe you should add the flux vortex, where scouts could be forbidden and they should rely on the scanner.

Yes i should add that feature, it would definitely have a strategic use.

I thought the vortex was already represented via the Mist Bulb item... Good to see it'll actually show up. So does this mean there will be no-fly areas in the map?

In the flux vortex, i don't really know yet wha the difference will be, since reducing sight range for units might prove difficult/buggy. I'll probably just increase the miss chance on attacks for Corps, and disable all kinds of radar or projectile homing if possible, since that was the main effect in the movie.
An area where it is impossible to fly at all doesn't make sense as i see it.

From the changelog, this seems to have been well worth the wait. Trying out ASAP (darn RL issues!), editing as necessary.


RDA:

* I really don't like the lowered foodcap, maybe you could set it to be based on number of players as well as the leaving thing?
** The "raise foodcap by ten" upgrade actually allows you increase it to 100 (not that I'm complaining, see above).
* The new icons are kind of strange, I have difficulty telling which is which as they all look like blue fog.
** Why change the Scorpion's icon? It was made for it, so...
* There are two fish doodads in the forest (South of the middle gap in the eastern cliffs, both next to a Pandoran tree).
* Privates apparently can't get AMPs anymore, ordering them to drive a suit makes them disappear along with an AMP (except for the one time it turned into a Slash Cutter and the other time it turned into a viperwolf...)
** They're missing from the Barracks too, seems the only way to get them is via the "Convert Workers" in the Armor Bay.
* The Job system works as far as I can tell, though Privates are missing this ability...
* I haven't seen the model currently used as the Rocket Trooper's AMP, but does it have a launching animation? Since it looks kind of strange for it not to use the missile pods...
* For the Unobtainium credits: I think there are far too many for the amount of Unobtainium on the map, I'm sure some can become money upgrades in the Tech Center.
** Also, Medics, Firebats and Rocket Troopers can get their specific AMPs without the Unobtainium upgrade (unless spending a point means getting a better version).
* Headquarter's Unobtainium upgrades and detector use the same hotkey.
* Big Bertha's tooltip Has "Default String" as a requirement.

* Apparently once your understanding of flora is at a certain level, the item crafting trees (cones, palm) don't give you anything...
* Perhaps have the weapon items look like their respective attachments?

** Shouldn't the Toruk be captureable at 100 Understanding?

P.S: After a quick check, i think all the bugs you experienced with Privates come from the fact that you made the TERRA II submachinegun Unobtanium Upgrade. That thing was bound to be buggy and it will be replaced, fixing those bugs.

0.29 is out, it fixes many of the things pointed out, by cleavinghammer especially.

Well i'll do something about these icons. For Corp buildings i simply need better base pictures: the ones i have so far are very foggy.

*Lol yea medic model doesn't really look like a medic, but tbh i didn't find any mecha looking like a support one with repair anims so... and for the repair anim, it is still better than the spell anim for that model (looks like a grenade shot). So basically i need a new model.

Review of Map!

I played this map with all of the spots and i saw some bugs.

With the Good Helicopter(Stronger One) The missiles dont fire.
The Navi 3rd slot should have a small tribe or something.
The avatars' quests should be a bit more challenging like ride this or that kill this or that than just get 20 this skill.
Hmmm I thought about this a lot (lol). In the observer slot u could add something like support for the RDA team like space stuff.
I dont know how but when i got my hero to an robot thing after something happened and i had 2 heroes :D. COOL!!

Models,Units,Structures: 5/5
(Cool Models great work at that makes game interesting)
Triggers, Scripts: 4/5
(Didnt see something wrong there)

(Yep I agree with some others. Terrain is always hardest to make and if u can
and add something like a space thing or make it more beautiful because many random trees scattered brings boredom and with RDA i just said ill cut the all lol.)

If u got 2/5: Hm Bored! (I might play this one more time!)

Heh glad you like the map ^^ !

The helicopter has a limited amount of missiles, you need to activate them by clicking the button on the helicopter when you want it to shoot missiles.

Avatar quests are currently being improved :)
Observer slot will stay neutral, Corps are able to perform space drops to help themselves already. When playing as a Corp, hit F1 for that.
Yea that double robot thing is a bug that i'm still trying to fix.

It's sad that you don't like the terrain, why exactly (apart from the "random" trees...)?

You know Dj0z, actually I think the terrain needs more doddad variety, more something unique, like shall we say some kind of giant strangely shaped rock in a forest, maybe some kind of more grass and things like that... currently there are only trees and tile variation on most of territories, it needs dodads and some uniqueness...

Uhh yea, i'll spam doodads all over it as it gets near completion, but for now it's alot more practical when mapmaking to not place them yet.

For the campaign, that would probably take even more time so i don't have such plans as of now.

EDIT [1]: Bug Detected: Dunno if is just me, but suddenly,when I was testing, a Security Leader appeared for me at my Metal Foundry, even I already having one. So basically I got 2 heroes of the same kind ''/.

EDIT [2]: Wait,those Soldiers that comes with the I.S.V Drops are normal,or is a bug?

* I have to say I preferred the Swan when it didn't require a gunner loaded (it makes more sense, unless the model has a version without the gunner standing in the back) (And still no infobox).
* The spikes around the unobtainium on the Hell Truck disappear after a while make it last until they reach the Space Pad.

Certainly,the R.D.A units are very incredible. You have used awesome models, created wonderful units and their spells, I didn't saw almost any unit or model that isn't good. However, I agree with cleavinghammer,the "Swan" recon vehicle shouldn't have to load a gunner,since that already is a gunner there. You could request of find another compatible model if you want to keep that "must-load-to-shoot" thing.

->Avatars:
There is not much to say,is there? Basically,Avatars are one-hero players [except when they are able to train Na'Vi units,but those I'll be rating later]. However, talking about models,the Avatar model looks awesome,but you could make a request OR try to make one avatar by yourself[I would suggest with many animations,so you could make,for example,multiple kinds of equip able weapons,such as bows,spears and etc.]. Now,talking about the "Avatar" unit,it's is totally awesome. I didn't saw so much well-made spells and actions in just one hero. You can do millions of stuffs as an Avatar.

->Na'Vi:
The Na'Vi are very good,for now.In my opinion,they should have more units and buildings,because,even with Eywa's help,the Avatars and Na'Vi won't be beating the R.D.A Corps so easily. More units and buildings for the Na'Vi would be very useful,for example,Na'Vi Weapon Smith[sells Na'Vi weapons]. Also,you could use the R.D.A Corps system: Na'Vi clansman/worker[or any other kind of non-combatant unit] able to become any kind of warriors,using Na'Vi weapons. My suggestions would be using that system,however,not removing the basic-training system[training directly the desired unit],however,the weapon-equipping system would be faster and cheaper.

->Eywa:
In your game,The Tree of Souls,Eywa,is very fantastic. I really appreciated the spells available to Eywa,for example, the Pandoraquake is really awesome and good for pushing those damn sky-people out of a region :p. Eywa is very well made. Realistic mana income system. One of the best points of your game,in my opinion.

Models and Units Rating: 8/10 => Fantastic. [] I gave 8/10 because of some models and units that maybe could be improved. Check again on top to see which units are those. If you still are not satisfied,you can leave a message in my account.[]

I would define this game's triggers in one simple word: A W E S O M E :]. It can be seen that you worked very hard in the triggering area to launch this map. I'm glad you appreciate the work on RDA Corp and Avatar gameplay.
We will most likely get a true Avatar hero model soon by the way :D
I'm also happy that you like Eywa, especially since 0.30 where it got rebalanced and much improved :)

Same for the trigger part, i spend alot of time on them indeed, for every single function where they could be wanted. Coding and debugging take long but at least it gives results and they can be seen clearly according to your review :)

Thanks for the terrain too, i will transmit to the terrainer.

It dosnt work for me, it loads wait for the message to come up then wc3 just freezes for about 1 minute then crashes :(, is your map iMac compatible (as wc3 only seems to work well on my imac:()

The problem stems from a certain coding that allows only pcs to be comatable with. its like having a large plug that only fits into the pc computer, but is too big and differently shaped for it to fit in the Mac.
