Arc Lancer

This bundle is marked as director's cut. It exceeds all expectations and excels in every regard.
Mechagnome Arc Lancer

This little but shockingly powerful gnome is a part of the Mechagon Gnomes,
which until recently were a (hostile)neutral faction in WoW lore.
Striving to reverse the curse of flesh by replacing their part with mechanical
augments and be more like their titanic creators intended them...
however they gone a little too far, but that was deal with.
Now some brave Mechagnomes offer their services at the tavern to be recruited.

This is my entry for Hive's first HD Model Contest.
Numerous geosets were used for the creation of this model, with the intent to minimize custom textures (all of them are names properly and can be checked in Retera's Model Studio, props to you man for the amazing tool!). The model is heavily inspired by WoW's Mechagnome design and their racial mount the Mechagon Mechanostrider. The Arc Lance is something silly I came up with... a gnome would probably want to compensate for size and strength with some ridiculous weapon like that.

Attached are also unit quotes sound files and are meant for Moon Priestess kit (small instruction also in attachment).

For lore-friendly names of the hero check this link.

Mr Ogre man
So after some discussing with Hive's moderators, and considering the incredible result that is this model, I'm proud to announce the first HD Director's Cut model. Congratulations!
Every time I see a Mechagnome, a Tortollan or an Ankoan, I get a severe case of PTSD.

And I definitely get a severe case of PTSD after seeing this, which is a good thing, meaning that it looks exactly as I imagine a Mechagnome in W3R.

Awesome job, as always.

The great thing about the allied race Mechagnomes is that they work just as well for regular Gnomes, but "cybernetically modified", which isn't beyond the scope of Gnomish technology as far as I'm concerned.

Did you ever have the "pleasure" of unlocking flying in BfA and the Mechagnome allied race?

Did you do it on Blender or 3ds Max?
This is 100% Reforged model with some texture changes for rider.

So basically what I did, is start with making a quick concept (pretty much all WoW references):

Concept - V 0.1.pngConcept - V 0.2.png

Then I picked every single mechanical model in Reforged, and cut it to pieces. Started raw assembly process, to just see what fits together to form the mount:

After that I lucked out on finding a mounted female character, with a mount who's leg bones matches the number of joints of my Mechanostrider (namely Naisha model):

Eventually I realized that replacing all her limbs with mechanical parts is the best idea, because making long elven arms and legs looks like gnomish ones is really, really hard to do right. Which is were I landed on final part of the model.. animations.
Here I had to adjust pretty much every single animation, either a little bit, or change it entirely, frame by frame.
Made textures for the gnome (somehow using gnome face on top of elven one and it actually worked, lol)
Added some PopcornFX for lance, and death animation.
Added second rings to the Arc Lance weapon and made them transparent with blue glow.. and boom, model done.
(And at the end made unit quotes form WoW Mechagnome sounds and some random mechanical noise for the mount)

awesome! I believe someone can pick this up and use this as basis for the Hawkstriders

Holy Molly! Thanks a lot, gnomes FTW, apparently ;D

Looks rather like mechagnome, but still great job.

Eh? What does that mean, "looks rather like mechagnome"? :peasant-thinking:
It literally is one :peasant-tongue-out:
Yeah, you're right. I'm here because of link and somehow I didn't see title. 😆 That said it's tagged as dwarf.
