Adding a buff with triggers

is there a way to add a buff to a unit with triggers?

i am trying this because my CHANNEL ability is not adding a buff to the unit i am targeting with it

Get a dummy unit to cast a spell which has the buff you want.

That will only create a special effect -- the special effect of an ability to be more precise.
This has nothing to do with the spell buff.
