MMmmm I must admit it is in fact an interesting set icons.
This definitively justifies your moderator position.
Personally I think your icons are not very Warcraft style, they are to "harsh", too much detailed, also the dragon images are not very similar to the Warcraft dragon models and to the Pyritie's campaign models. Although i know Pyrtie's models will be changed in a further version, i believe you should choose for another style of animation. You obviously choose the conventional dragon image and convert it to an icon.
The unit icons still very impressive - in my opinion one of the best set of dragon icons i have ever seen ( not kiding, I usually have hight standards for the icons I qualify).
The upgrade icons, could use more detail in light. They should have more light and color effects, like the warcraft 3 upgrade icons have. Some aura around the dragon's chest and the dragon's skin would definitely increase your icons and set them to a new level of quality, more similar to warcraft style.
Also try to make the auras bigger with more bright. A different set of colors would also be good, i know red and orange are hot colors, thus having a relation to dragons, but other colors such as green, blue and white would also be a good idea. Besides in warcraft there are also ice dragons and poison dragons, adding such auras would be an advantage to you.
Your spell icons are just to poor. The meteor and white spell icons should have a different background, black is not that good.
About suggestions.... Pyrities idea of making elemental icons would be good, but i believe you would have more "profit" with icons about various spells.
I have big suggestion for you, but i will leave that for the end.
Also, i know it's not difficult, but you could complete your set of icons with all types of them - BTN (already done), DISBTN (also lol), PAS, DISPAS and Autocast.
I spent lot's of time writing this comment so i can't download the zip files, still, i may do so in the future.
To conclude, you are good at icon making and i am impressed, don't feel bad about my comments. Nothing is perfect and it will never be (not only tutorials are included here, but everything. Let's just say your comment is older than God itself. Also to make it clear - its nothing personal).
Although your icons are good, they can also be perfected.
Finally my suggestion - It seems that you have some talent to create images. I don't know if Pyritie will accept, but i think it would be a good idea for you to create the loading screen of each map of his campaign. In my opinion, it would be a new challenge for you. Anyway, you make the last call, it's up to you.
