I'm interested in seeing what the 'elite mapmaking community' sees as the best of each genre.

I'll start of my own. Please keep in mind you can add in your own genres if you feel (like Melee, Campaigns/Cinematics), but please don't make anything too stupid. I'd also rather not start off a flame war on each post (ie: your map sucks) but discussion is welcome

Here are mine in order. Feel free to include your reasonings if you want
AoS
DotA: Allstars
Hand of Sorrow Knight
Land of Legends/Legends of Eternity (straightforward and fun and original)
Enmity Campaign (i really liked the machine gun wars and it was fairly straightforward)
Tides of Blood/Age of the Zenith/Desert of Exile (too slow for me, but still very good quality)
Honorable Mentions:
Age of Myths. Played once and it was pretty fun; didn't want to include something I only played once though

Other Hero-Based Stuff (like arena):
Requiem of the Gods (like a 10x better version of Anime Fight without the gay and the imbalance. Requires teamwork and is very fun and strategic)
Anime Fight (everyone loves some imbalance now and then)
Nexus Arena (I think it was one of the more customized Hero Arena's and it was loads of fun without being too imbalanced)
Honorable Mentions:
Angel Arena for making two types of hero arenas: the balanced and the 'buy tomes as fast as you can' types

Spawn-type Stuff
Footies (Frenzy... but I'll play anything like Ultimate or even Armageddon)
Ring Wars/Other LOTR-Based Maps (ARDA APPROVED!)/Sereg Dor/Even Azeroth Wars

Tower Defense
Gem TD (was original to me, not playing the poker td. now it's the base for a lot of other td's)
Element TD (straightforward, yet still hard. also eliminates mazing which isn't a bad thing)
Honorable Mentions:
Burbenog TD. a classic
Skibi TD/Zoator TD for including stuff you need to do, other than building towers
Arkguil/Wintermaul/Cube Defence for being models

Mini-Games
Mad Balls/Death Coil Arena/Battle Mages (or dodgeball-type maps)
Are You a Retard (sit down the first time with friends and play this for like an hour. every other play after that is boring though and is just an e-peen measurement)
Slide Kitty Slide (played this yesterday at 2am; fell over laughing like twice and probably woke others up)
Pictionary
Maze-type Maps
Pyramid Escape
Uther Party

Miscellaneous/Other
Pudge Wars
Castle Fight
Card Shuffle
Tech Wars/Boreal Conflict
Pimp My Peon
Spellcraft

also on another tiny note, maps I hate.
HeroCraft for being both imbalanced and boring as hell
Naruto Wars (or Anime Wars) for being both gay-themed and stupid
Ice Troll Tribes so zzz
Heroes and Empires type maps
Roleplaying/ORPGs
Life of a Peasant. I played it with friends and it was funny for a bit. I'd imagine pubs would be race-to-be-rigged-people-go!
Most Tags. Super boring as worker and almost impossible as tagger unless they suck. This includes Vampirism
to a lesser extent, murder at the mansion

your turn hiveworkshop... go!

AoS
DotA: Allstars
Advent of the Zenith
Hand of Sorrow Knight
Tides of Blood
Tower Defense

Slide Kitty Slide - just sliding nothing interesting
Pyramid Escape - my favourite
Uther Party - pretty good

AoS:
Desert of Exile- simply the best. Condition system, beautiful models, the best hero set ever. + the fact that hired creep spawns > items, that makes DotA players mad
Tag:
Against the Darkness- though it's semi-tag rather. But it owns the rest. ID or Vampirism is just spamming towers and walls :hohum:
Minigames:
MaD Balls Arena- lot's of fun and the creator is ok.
Defence:
Abyss Gates- awesome skill system and heroes + some nice waves. Though quite repetitive.
CTF:
Elimination Tournament- one of the best and most innovative wc3 maps ever.
TD:
Eeve! TD- the only TD that didn't get boring after 1-3 games.
Campaign:
Deandra's Tale- or Joe's Quest? Dunno, anyway- by Med.MapGuy.
Other:
Castle Fight- the best approach on tech wars genre.
Wanted!- very funny, western-themed, shooter game.
Treasure Cave- the best adventure map I have played. Too bad it can't be played too many times.
War of the Crown- old map, played it 4 years ago(mainly on single player), before I had a long break from wc3. VERY innovative and creative, though it could use some tweaking- now I have only found some bad version- with bugs, crashes sometimes. But eShep agreed that someone could take it over.

Welcome to WORM WAR! - I love that game. Nice to take a break from stuff.
not to mention the sound effects are hilarious. Multi-squish!

Rabbits vs Sheep. Another quick and dirty fun game.

Pudge Wars gets an honorable mention but the difference between pros and newcomers gets wider as the game goes on.

I don't really play any others in seriousness, most other games just require too much of a learning curve, I want games I can have fun with right off the bat.

You hate a lot of things SantaBla. This is a thread to post your favorite picks of each game genre. Your comment doesn't make his opinion any less valid.

In attempt to rerail discussion:
TDs - I can't think of any specific ones in particular that I've wanted to go back and play again other than the Blizzard TD (you gotta work at that map before you have a chance of winning) and Doodad Defense (it's hilariously random and thus is pretty original and entertaining map)
Most others I just play once and then delete when I visit my maps folder two months later, which is why I stopped joining *noun* maul games.
