my gpu is a old intel 2500 hd worked fine with it until this horrendous patch

On some maps it helps to set "Particles" to Low.

For example, on the map "Nerubian Passage" framerate drops to ~25 fps for me with Particles on High/Medium, while on Low it has >60 fps as usual.

Not optimal, but playable.
