Ragnaros and the other lieutenants are not old gods. Raggy is only rumored to be one.

Ragnaros is an Elemental Lord, along with Al'Akir, Therazane and Neptulon
Old Gods are like C'Thun. They don't give a stuff about the Elemental Lords, really. They could crush them beneath a tentacle. Old Gods are C'thulu-esque horrors
As for Hakkar, he's a snake thing. I personally think he's a Loa, but he's not an Old God. He's far too weak

An old god I want to be is the School Teacher, so I can make sure students don't have too much fantasies and practice some sort of odd occult by monitoring them closely.

Well,being C'thun kinda sux...i couldn't really go anywhere,i couldn't get any girls...it'd be a pain in the ass,especially the part where I have to deal with dumb groups trying to kill me every 25 minutes.
Being Ragnaros,well,i couldn't hit the swimming pool,and i would probably have to hang out at the Molten Core all day long,which is pretty boring.But at least i could walk around,and smack my minions with teh hammer for being lazy.It still sucks though.
No wonder the Old Gods are represented as a pissed off bunch.
