I probably have the most stupid reason to study... but..:
To Expand myself, to find who I am, to find what I enjoy and to find out who I want to be.

I already have a degree in visual arts and another in graphic design. However, the study from the degrees does help, it doesn't give me a job, make me a graphic designer or painter/artist. It helps me find who I am and allows me to enhance my abilities to find my niche. Once I have found myself and my skill level/set I want to be at, then I am ready to help other people and myself, in terms of employment.

The arts is a very hard place in terms of making a living...its really a matter of who you know...and if you are a nobody, you get NO WHERE D:

But once you are in the arts field, with your large network, you get paid to do amazing, fun and self-enhancing things.

In Aussie land, the Arts in terms of courses and study is dying, and is getting more and more looked down upon, even by the world itself. But I say, people would fail trying to endure a course in Arts if its not in their "hearts".. (lol).

In the big smoke, the cities however, Graphic Design work and Art is like butter on toast, its easily come by, you do what you love...and sometimes hate at the same time, and you can make either a mere earning to riches. But as stated, it ALL depends on WHO you are and your network. That's why, you have to find yourself first.

My 2 cents in the studying of arts field. :D

Instead of getting a job coz of employment problems, try to make use of your skill in 'something' or make a business related to your field, if you're an artist that draws very well, go to the streets and paint someone for a price ofc...it only takes confidence, patience, hard work and ingenuity...
two options:
  1. getting a job first (part-time job), then make use of your skill in 'something'
  2. try to make use of your skill in 'something' but you don't have a job so when your business or your works is not attractive or no-one like them or interested on them, you have no money

i would pick the first

a job cant make you rich, do you think a doctor will get rich if he has a salary of 100,000 pesos per month without his own a clinic or so called business?, yes a job is important but it's just a starting point, the friend of my grandfather is a doctor and has a clinic, earns 750USD per day, plus salary of 100K from a hospital and he is very rich now...

Several reasons, I'd never study just to increase my knowledge of something I'm interested or get economical benefits alone. Instead my reason for studying is somewhere in between the two. Sort of in it because I want to, but also for the possible cash; which in turn can render a lot of joy too.

Most of the time, money is the driving force for studying and graduating from school. Some people, however, prefer to live in poverty even when they invested a lot for good education, like those doctors serving the rural areas (in our country) and get paid chicken or vegetables for the medical service they provide.
