Meh anyone with 512mb should upgrade to 1gb, it will make everything run alot smooother, I recently upgraded my gfx card to radeon X1050, but i was running on 9800 pro until it burned out on me. Also anyone with the money to spare for a high end system is really wasting it all, mid range ftw.

Mine is the ultimate in midrange. I bought it all for $1400, relatively cheap, and it runs like a dream. It's not top of the line, but it sure isn't value parts either.

IMHO, upper midrange is the best place to buy. You get high performance without paying much of a price premium.

1 Gb of RAM? You sicken me. I'm getting another 2 before the year ends, for a total of 4 GB's of top-notch Dual-Channel DDR2 RAM.

Just out of curiosity, does it make a difference where RAM is mix-and-matched or does it all have to be exactly the same sticks?

Like do I have to get another 2 sticks of the OCZ Platinum so that they're all the same, or can I just go with something else?

I think you both mean 1GB, (not "one gigabit").

As for the question at hand...
Theoretically, you can mix and match different memory modules as long as you are careful to match clock speed, latencies, operating voltages, sizes, and such especially across each channel.
Even so, some motherboards are very picky and some memory modules do not work very well together, so you definitely will get the most reliable results using the same brand/model.

Dunno exactly everything, but I bought it for 15.000 Norwegian kroner. That'll be about 2525 US Dollars. I bought it for my " the party thing you have when you get 15 and you're christian*cough**cough* ", all single parts, no "Complete Dell, CHEAP!" here, no...

Technomancer, you basically have the same PC as me, except i'm running the 2600 Xt with 512 VRAM, 4 GB of RAM, and 740 GB total HD. My RAM is also Dual Channel DDR2 at 800 mhz, but whatever. My monitor is also 2 inches larger than yours, but yeah :p

Once I get everything in my PC finalized, I'll relist my specs.
