I'm pretty sure it's two existing textures just put together as one aura. The unholy aura and then the red one is a texture.. it's been a while since I edited Wc3 but it looks very very familiar.

well, i do not feel like the unholy aura texture meshes well with the red one, so it should be removed, imo

Tested this ingame and the screenshot does not do this model justice at all.
Its very basic, but at the same time actually works in a strange colour-contrast sort of way.
In future, perhaps use top down screens?.

This just uses one of the demon rune's models in the doodads... and when it's unanimated, the original aura can still be seen. I dunno, but that seems simple.
