"And I dont know to spell well on english."
Well?! It's horrid.
"Atleast I'm patriotic, unlike you."
Do you even know what does that word mean?
"So we are all idiots?"
Learn one thing, there is no "we".

And get back to the topic you are boring me.

There is no need to start flaming. Although Hailfireer's English is not good and his tactics may be a little weird, he has all the rights to post what he thinks (as long as he doesn't break the rules, of course) and not be insulted for that.
My honest opinion.

On Topic:
Has anyone here tried a melee rush with IG against Tau?

It is suicide.

Well my tactics are a little wierd. But then again in history wierd proved to be efctive (well most of the time). I just like thinking out of the box.

As for IG rush on Tau, it depends. If his army is based on Crisis and Broadsides, your army would get to engadge Tau in melee but the outcome would be bad. Especialy if Crisis have flamers. If its firewarrior based, most would be cut down, if not all. Only chance you have is that your whole army is only Guardsmen squads. Then some would get close since firewarirs have less rapid fire even then SM but more acurasi. But thos suads that would come in melee would be cut down by a suad or 2 of Kroot. This ofcourse counts no tanks (or just few of em), cuz an assault with tanks on any army could result in victory. Maybe use bainblades to clear kill Tau morale first.

Oh and why do SM have only 1 whirlwind, and IG 3 bains + bains are stronger. No fair.

He means Basilisks... and of course they can have more, they must rely on it (besides, the Whirlwind's standard attack is much better than the Basilisk's one).

I've tried the melee rushing tactic a pair of times. It's quite good in small maps like Eden or Parmenie (if I remember the name well) but only against CPU. I tried against a human opponent, once (in Eden): I kept him pressed for some time but he outeched me and started sending Skyrays... xD
But, against CPU, is very good: 3 IG squads + Tactical Command at the beginning; research a pair of power ups for IGs and the Command Squad power up; create an Infantry Command soon and start creating loads of Psykers and Commissars (and Command Squad of course). Send IG squads against Firewarriors in hand to hand, Commissars against Kroots, Psykers against Stealthsuits and Command Squad against Tau Commander. If you manage to get rid of their turret fast and have a good micro you'll smash them. ;)

For the first 15 minutes or so I start base building, getting defenses, and teching. After that I have a small team ready to hit the enemy. Get a scout, infiltrate, deepstrike, I win.

Pah, Space marine player >.> What If they have more than one base? What if their base if fortified? even a deepstrike in newer versions cannot completely overcome a base.

Deepstrike? Thtas like only max 5 suaes. You can only have 3 in orbita lreley, and 2 terminators. Any base can survive that easy...

It does help. A lot.
And it's not that bad, in the previous version you had to:

a) kill all your tier 1-2 units
b) send them to suicide against the enemy

in order to get tier 3-4 units. Moreover not seeing an army of Terminators, Karskins or Obliterators is much more lore-wise... it was quite fun, nonetheless.

Well, Terminator and Karskin armies are quite lore friendly actually. Full Terminator armies are usually the 1st company of a chapter and Karskins (TT-wise) are fielded as troop choices unless you use them as storm troopers. However you could also field full Storm trooper armies in previous TT editions.

Sure, but we must not forget that they are still quite unusual: the armies in DoW are meant to be "general" (or at least that's my impression), thus 1st Space Marines company or Kasrkins armies aren't that common. Nevertheless, I should have written "quite uncommon, lore-wise" than "it's not much lore-wise". ^^

TT-wise (wise xD) you can have only 3 Karskin squads as troops... unless there's something new in the 5th edition, of course. ^^

Yes. They can pwn infatry. But vs SM or Chaos SM? They just not good. When playing vs SM with Eldar, you must tech quickly, and hope your not overunned.

Well to get Spacemarines, all you have to do is get baracks. With Guards and eldars its diferent. So with SM I count Space Marines as starting combat unit.

Space Marines: you get Scouts at first and then, with barracks, Tacticals.
Eldars: you get Guardians at first and then, with barracks (+little powerups), Aspect Warriors.
IG: you get Imperial Guards. Live with it.

So, no, Tactical SMs are not a starting combat unit, they're a PRIMARY combat unit. Starting AND primary units are Guardsmen.

@StormWarriors2: so do I.
