okay, this is insane.
This is...What I dreamed of last night. Wait, wait, more. Better than what I dreamed of:
Custom Interface, custom B.net, at last a free Warcraft, cool graphics, everything is awesome. Perfect. Congratulations for the idea of the year(?),
and I wish you good luck. Good luck. Good Luck.
*subscribes, thumbs up, waits impatiently for the beta*
Wait, one more question..
I think the Wc3 maps won't be playable in Wc4 mod? If not, too bad.. I would have followed TKoK until Warcraft XXX..

Dude... this is called a mod. There are many of those. However such features like custom battle.net is good and calling it free Warcraft isnt quite truth, because you still need warcraft III installed to play it. I wouldnt call this idea of the year, but this project is very good.

Normal maps will be playable in EoE and any other mod.

Well, first of all, I hope you realize that there is, so far, no completed and released English mod for WC3, and thus such assumptions shouldn't be assumed. Another thing is that he might change that, and besides, what's the point of replacing all of WC3's graphics with much more detailed, high-resolution and high-poly graphics if old maps with old models such as trees and textures such as dirt and basically ugly terrain are still playable?

And who, other than Kingbdogz, can say that it's 'going to be added as an expansion'?

Well, true. Kingbdogz, is the only one who can say that, and the only one who can say Warcraft III maps are playable. And what you said, debode, about "ugly terrain" isn't really true. If someone is REALLY professional in terraining, the terrain may not be ugly. But that's just my opinion. Don't consider it.
Also, King, I would like to say, as many others said, and if you did not change that name... Mosque doesn't fit : Mosquee is for muslims. Muslims are most of the time peaceful; so WAR mosque can't be. And the christian chapel decorations are not for mosquees. I am a muslim, and, really, I feel "offended" by that >.>'

[OFF-TOPIC: What's up, Debode? :p]

Yes, palace is better. Fits more with Scarlet Crusade. Though temple would be good, too.
EDIT: Yeah, probably right, Debode.

Nah, I thought of this variant too, but in Warcraft Temple is used for dark or primitive cults and religions, with the exceptions of night elves and draenei.

EDIT:
Shrine and Temple kinda dont fit, Sanctuary is weird, but can be used.

The others are awesome.

Lol yes.. By the way,
Scarlets got spellcaster right? Well they should be in the Monastery. For war thing, (did not want to say Mosquee) make it War cathedral or War chapel.

Anyone working on it or that's paid attention when we release announcements that say "it's basically an unofficial expansion."

We're making an new MPQ, and we're still running the mod using the engine without modifying it. The mod will in no way affect HOW the engine runs or adversely or otherwise affect the original game files. The only thing that will be affected is the World Editor, although barely (I don't know if we're really even doing anything to it that changes the source). There's no reason that older maps won't be able to be compiled unless there is an unforeseen error or something changes that I'm unaware of.

Mosquee is for muslims. Muslims are most of the time peaceful; so WAR mosque can't be. And the christian chapel decorations are not for mosquees.

Mohammed used a mosque as a military base. Besides the use of the cross and term mosque isn't intended to relate directly to real world affairs.

Yes, palace is better. Fits more with Scarlet Crusade. Though temple would be good, too.

Palaces aren't places of war either, they're just residential buildings. Sometimes they're used for meetings in relation to war since now they're used for parliament, but that would make less sense than using the word mosque.

Maybe we should start talking about the Monastery instead of Mosque, this thread is becoming a bit religious...

There's no reason that older maps won't be able to be compiled unless there is an unforeseen error or something changes that I'm unaware of.

Just so everyone is aware: There will be two versions of the modification.

The first one is the original, and basically has a new war4.mpq file and two executables (Warcraft IV.exe and Chaos Editor.exe). This in NO way affects the original files. When installing, you need to insert both the Warcraft III: The Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne disks. This is to prevent people who have pirated the original games from playing the modification for free. This also clears any issues that Blizzard may have. When playing the modification the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne disk must be inserted.

The second version is called the "Lite" version. This is basically an alternative to use which allows you to simply download one executable file. When you download the "Lite" version all you gain is a file called "Warcraft IV Lite.exe" that requires NO installation. You can place this Lite version anywhere on your computer and it will work perfectly fine. However, when starting up the modification for the first time it will prompt you to insert both Warcraft III disks and afterwards you need to provide your computer's Warcraft III directory. After that first prompt, it no longer appears. You still, however, need to have the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne disk inserted to play. The only downside to this Lite version is that it does not contain the Chaos Editor.

Having to insert the disk may be a pain in the ass, but it is really the only way I can get total acceptance from Blizzard Entertainment. It is after all the only reason Project Revolution lasted for so long.

Also, regarding the map issue:

Yes Warcraft III melee maps will be supported and the graphics will be automatically updated when you start one up. The only problem that might occur is that the terrain may look a little off because a few of the tile sets will be replaced with new ones.

Anyway, I always wanted to know, is Chaos Editor your edited World Editor, right?

Yes. Although it doesn't affect the original editor in any way; it is a separate executable.

What is Project Revolution?

Only the best modification for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne there is. Not only is it the most developed, but also the most detailed. Sadly it was cancelled due to engine limitations:

Link

It's basically a three-dimensional adaption of the original Starcraft expansion (which was Starcraft: Broodwar by the way). There is a Terran demo if you would like to check it out. It's truly amazing.

No, Mohammed did.. BUT, he had no military base. He also isn't christian. And, scarlet crusade does not fight for religion. Mohammed does.
So, Monastery, or something else. Not mosquee..

You don't need the Frozen Throne disk to play it anymore. There shouldn't be an issue having to not insert it, besides it's just as easy to burn an .iso to a disk.

No, Mohammed did.. BUT, he had no military base. He also isn't christian. And, scarlet crusade does not fight for religion. Mohammed does.
So, Monastery, or something else. Not mosquee..

He used a mosque issued marching orders, proclaimed jihad, and recognized his warriors. He used it as a military base. So, there isn't an issue with it.

Exactly,mosquee is NOT christian.

Nobody said it is.

Uhh... if you burn it to a disk, you just use the disk like you would if you had a legit copy.

Seriously, why do you like "Mosque" so much anyways? It's pretty offensive and completely unfitting.

Historically and architecturally, it in no way implies offense and is perfectly fitting regardless of what anyone wants to say it was used for. How does monastery or shrine not offend me or someone else? Both of those are even further away from what it is. Not as if Muslims don't use shrines either....

Bold: We muslims use shrines? No way. The only thing we use is mosque. We pray there.

Underlined: Wrong. It does, for me. It does offend me/other muslims because WE MUSLIMS are PEACEFUL. We in no way have War mosques. We in no way use them as military bases. Also, if temple/monastery offends YOU, use anything, but don't use what offends US.

Italic: Guess...If monastery or shrine offends you, use temple. If it offends you too, use anything. Besides mosque.

~Herian
