Oh my god. I was just browsing the forums yesterday and i saw this. First i was like "Oh no.. another project with OMG IMMA MAKE WC4 LAWLALWLAW"
but this is insane? Custom b.net? Own client? This is not just one level above average mapping, its 10 levels above it! Im for sure gonna play this campaign through, since it sounds awesome. But i have a couple of questions about this:

Will you have voice actors for the campaign?
Will you have custom terrain tiles/doodads (or how its spelled xD)
Will all units be custom? Or are you keeping some of the old?
-----------
I wish you all luck (not because you need luck) and I hope it will be finished in a few months :D

Keep it up!

okay cool.

Technical question, how the hell is the b.net supposed to work? Do you have servers that support it? I just cant belive you can create a custom battlenet? how is it possible?

Yes we have our own servers, although the process of creating a custom Battle.net is very long. I think you should ask Lich_king2 if you want more information regarding the subject.

Just a small announcement. Due to lore and gameplay reasons, we have renamed some of the races.

Old Races:

Human
Undead
Orc
Night Elf
Convent of the Blackened

New races:

Alliance
Scourge
Horde
Night Elves
Convent of the Blackened

Now that most of the races in Warcraft IV have been renamed, I would like to give you all a little sneak peak of the tech trees. The Scourge race's tech tree is the only one completed as of far so I'm only going to show you theirs. Here is the visual representation of the structure tech tree (does not include unit production):

ScourgeTechTree.jpg

While everything is subject to change, the current tech tree is quite solid. Notice the changes made to hero tech and tier progression. Now you require a Crypt and Graveyard to get an Altar of the Lichborn. The Halls of Sorrow requires the Altar too, so just to get to tier two you need to construct three structures. This leaves the player in the first tier for a little longer while leaving the emphasis away from Heroes and more on the unit actions. Heroes are still important, but units are not as disposable as they were in Warcraft III.

Here's all the units:

Crypt:

Tier 1 - Lurker
Tier 1.5 - Witch
Tier 1.5 - Blightwing

Altar of the Lichborn:

- Shade of the Lich King
- (More heroes to come)

Necropolis/Halls of Sorrow/Black Citadel:

Tier 1 - Acolyte
Tier 1 - Nerubian Digger

Infested Haven:

Tier 2 - Haunt
Tier 2 - Gargoyle (No longer flies, now a specialized Spellcaster)
Tier 3 - Plague Erupter

Haunted Boneyard:

Tier 2- Seeder
Tier 3 - Frost Wyrm

Slaughter House:

Tier 2 - Obsidian Guardian
Tier 2.5 - Abomination

Undergrave:

Tier 3 - Crypt Fiend
Tier 3 - Obsidian Pulverizer

Few notes to take:

- Crypt Fiend now Tier 3.
- Boneyard available earlier, but Frost Wyrm stays at same Tier.
- A lot more units in general; especially early game.
- More branched out structures.

Hope this will give you a little insight on how the Scourge works. Please feel free to post feedback, suggestions, and questions. :)

I'd recommend changing "Night Elves" to "Sentinels" or "Night Elf Sentinels", and the "Nerubian Digger" to something else, like "Grave Digger" or something, because "Nerubian Digger" sounds as if the unit is still a living, breathing Nerubian(which should be wrong, as the Nerubians of the Scourge are all Undead - Nerubians hate the Undead, the Scourge and the Lich King, as you might now if you read the War of the Spider - which I personally didn't btw. :p).

Also, if you're using the old Polis\Halls\Citadel model, or something based on it or similar to it, I'd recommend basing a model on, or directly using the Necropolis model from the BETA of WC3, which can be found in the "Welcome to Warcraft" thread.

Is there any chance that it will come out before September?

We are aiming for a March release.

Hm, why dont you replace Nerubian Digger with undead Jormungar?

I agree with debode, night elves should be Sentinels.

Grave Digger sounds fine, thanks Debode. As for the Sentinels: No.

The Night Elves are not just made up of Sentinels. Go read Sentinels up if you don't understand what I mean:

Yeah, it was something like this:

NightElves.png

But still, most of the Night Elves are sentinels. In WoW they needed guards so they named them 'Sentinels' and said that they're guards.
The only non-female warrior night elves, prior to World of Warcraft, are the Druids. There are also Demon Hunters who are considered elite warriors, but there are few of them and they don't get into any group, kind of like Keepers of the Grove(who aren't Night Elves at all). Note that Keepers might be a part of the Druid group, as they are pretty much tutors and even semi-gods or godlike-deities to the druids.
Watchers are prison guards\jailers, who pretty much live underground their whole 2000-year-long(or during the World Tree era, eternal) lives, guarding prisoners like Illidan.

It would make no sense if I renamed them Sentinels, even if most of the race is made up of them. I want the lore in this project to be as perfect as possible and that includes something like this. Sorry Debode it just wouldn't make sense.

omg omg so it will come out this month?

Most likely yes, but I can't promise you anything because we are just aiming for this month.

Dude, exactly what I'm trying and hoping for. :p
I'm trying to help you get as perfect as you can from the lore aspect. As I don't know how you're implementing the Night Elves in your project, I'm starting to doubt about my suggestion anyways.

To be honest Kaldorei sounds even more lame, I actually don't mind the Night Elves.

I don't think you guys actually understand why I changed their names. I didn't simply do it so that they sound cooler but because their previous names made no sense. I couldn't in my right mind leave the Humans as they are while 50% of their units are Gnomes and Dwarves.

Hmm... Maybe you could make the Tech Tree display look more like the Blizzard one in the manual, and you could add more units... I hope you'd add a few more races too... It looks extremely great now:)

If she rebelled she would has attacked her on sight, instead of going with her in Lordaeron and stuff. It is rather Tyrande who is a rebel. She attacked fellow night elves, who were created by Malfurion instead of asking them to help. Maiev was angered that her sisters and friends were slain by idiotic Tyrande, but she never rebelled. If she has rebeled she wouldnt has listened to Malfurion or her.

Actually this one does look a lot like the Blizzard one, check theres out here:

Anyway, we can't add any more races. We already have five and as it is we have to recreate every single model. Sorry we just don't have that kind of time, as it is it's hard to get a beta out this month with one race.
