There's something... Strange. I don't know what exactly. Maybe it is the proportions... Specially the arm holding the axe... Except for that (And the eyes, for I think they should have more meaning. Have you ever noticed how much the characters, mainly the WC ones, say everything with their eyes? The box of the wc3 and the expansion are both two main characters staring at you. Many, many times, the cinematics focus on their eyes: Be it on Hellscream's death, be it on Arthas transformation at the Lich King. Eyes are everything!) it is quite good!

'Cause you asked for it.
And here's the face crop from the big version:
og.jpg

I think for a drawing, the eyes tell a lot.

*keep in mind that the face, on my a4 paper that I drew the whole pic on, is only 3 cm in height, so i guess you can't be much more detailed than this.*

Let me lighten you ^^
This thrall has the same problem as this one (http://kanaru92.deviantart.com/art/Thrall-158633038)
Now look at a random wow model that got it right : (http://www.cataclysmfrontlines.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/thrall.jpg)

You noticed ? His head is way too high and he should look more of a hunchback (god I have some problems translating this one). Orcs tends to have very proeminent backs. The problem of this sketch is that the proportions are not really orcish and if you change the head, he just looks like any human hero (especially with that tiny hammer)

Another thing would be the armor. It's clearly not doomhammer's armor (except for the hands part), which is kinda the fabric mark of Thrall. Him wearing any other armor is not really logical.

I hope my comment was useful to anyone.

Nitpicking Nitpicking :3
Well, when you forward the hull (I guess you say it like that) his head gets tilted backwards and it looks then like then he looks not hunched. It's the small details that make my day! I'll start drawing another one eventually later today.

Well can you try to keep the Caca Thrall's face for the model for the project, because I never really liked the old WoW one that he had, but make him have the black armor and gold trim instead of the shaman robes.
And nice picture as well man and you should really color if you get a chance man, and looking forward to see more from this project and the people who are making it.

you guys, he's only hunch-backed in WoW because it's like 15 years since that time and he's been through a lot...

Since you guys aren't taking in WoW lore, he's still very young.

Indeed... Indeed... Crackdown... We must...
No updates from me... I've been exceedingly lazy and done absolutely f all.
LOLZ JOKE - Update TYM! :D

We have, k thx bai nowHere's what you can expect in the very near future:
-> Another lore char unveiling (new conception (i.e. not a char from previous wc's)
-> TWO articles, one on A[r]ES (more on that when and where) and the other on a hero design update.
-> Coding progress, we'll be doing it but you won't see it.
-> Data progress, same as above.
-> You might see Rexxar again shortly, Walle said it's coming along nicely, I can't hold him to anything though.
-> While I don't want to excite you TOO much while we have been discussing the possibility of a trailer - I'll say no more ;P

Ah, but you can in fact get some more out of me.

A Trailer usually designates a theatrical trailer, A short video advertisement, usually in the range of one to two minutes, showing excerpts or a string of excerpts from an upcoming film (or in this case, Video Game). The Trailer usually contains the information to give a general idea of what the advertised product is about, giving plot exposition and revealing characters. It is usually accompanied by a piece of music, either from the actual products compositions, or contracted in from an outside company. It also usually has some sort of narration, either by a character or an out of movie Voice-Artist.

However, a trailer entitles with it that the product is nearly finished, and the finishing touches are being made, which would mean, in this case, that a closed beta on the game has been underway for some time, and that a full version of the first part would be ready for public release within one or two months. As such progress would have been astonishing at this point of time, it is likely they have meant...

...A teaser "trailer", or what can be simply called a teaser. A teaser is usually short, only 30 to 60 seconds typically. It takes place when principle filming is complete, and editing has started. In the case of WC4:SC2, it can be hoped that the foundations of the game play themselves are nearly completed in its establishment, and they are building up from there. Teasers usually are musically focused, and have the absence of narration and story elements, only for a brief moment if utilized. So, if this were the path they were going, we would see a small glimpse of the game play in action, in a short window. This is the one I would be betting on.

The other possibility of the Teaser would be to actually create a story-oriented scene that does not actually appear in the film but rather is designed to set the audience up, or to bridge the audience from the previous installment, the "known", to the new installment, the "unknown". This would be the "cinematic" you were thinking about.

There is also always the looming thought of the trailer being more of a "demonstration", with actually having a team-member demo the basic game play structure. But if they were doing that, im PRETTY sure they would have just said Demo instead of a Trailer.

At least, that is my take on the note by Grey.

If ya'll need any assistance with actually MAKING the thing, my chosen career path is Cinematography and Film Production... so I've been using my software for awhile now.

Oh and I also have good news, but it’s not really something that applies to anyone besides the music department.

Cheers,
~Asomath

Well I'm going to give out a teaser trailer for my project, but still would be nice though to see one for this project.
Oh and its a bummer for not having creeps in this like in Warcraft III, but can you add certain critters in the environment for the Barrens could be for example a Thunder Lizard, quillbeast for the other one and some more you can think of.
Would be awesome though and the project is going good so far man.

If I remember correctly the strategy guide that comes with the warcraft 3 tft battle chest has thralls exact age in it.

I would go check one of those, any information you find in anything more modern will probably have tainted WoW shit.

If that helps at all, =P

Question: So out of the single player, and the multiplayer, which one are you guys going to put more focus into? Or do both with the same amount of focus?

Like, is the going to be an awesome story mode, that, oh yea, you CAN play melee too? Or an INSANE crazy competative melee with a shitty story? or a balance of both?

What is the goal?

I believe, and my word isn't official here, that they plan to focus on getting melee gameplay set up first (so multiplayer) and once multiplayer is up and running, focus mainly on Single player with little multiplayer fixes/changes here and there.

That's a very good question and the answer is a complicated one.
We do as Turminator said, plan to develop a melee game first and foremost before then building a series of campaigns around it post release. This does not mean however that our focus is on melee, on the contrary - with the 'system' out of the way a lot more time and care can be put into the 'story' and 'feel' of the campaigns, with gameplay balance already being pretty much sorted. But of course if you guys have thoughts/suggestions we'd love to hear them! :)

Hey, is there any tech tree preview out yet ? I'd like to take a try at drawing some units designs to help out, but now that the project seems to have moved on to "everybody's ideas are welcome" to "lets get this done first", I'm not sure what to draw. It seems that the old forum is down.

Yeah we had some (well several) issues with the forum/hosting, activity and what not and lost a lot of work when it went down. You can submit ideas via the website www.wclotd.com, our fb page or moddb (and obviously this thread).

I don't know about the trees, I have basic copies but I'm not sure of their final when twif 'gets back' - I'll pester him to post something up - I personally thnk they could do with community tweaks ;)
