@Mtsensk
That captain is named Falric (Even with this project, I follow "back-up" lore given in books, like details of what happened before WoW, books like Rise of the Horde, Beyond the Dark Portal etc., tell me if you don't want me to do that)

Personally, I think that Arthas is too corrupted to be redeemed, but maybe in his dying moments? And then again, it's not my project :p

I wasn't speaking of Arthas being redeemed persay, I was speaking of somehow, Jaina gets into his head, he begins to remember things from his past. Remember in the FT campaign when Arthas kept having the visons from Ner'zhul (The Lich King) and it kept hurting him and paining him (his levels degenerated) Somehow, maybe he could be having visons of Jaina, after they meet again maybe. Seeing as neither of them has seen eachother since his corruption as far as I know. It would provide for a really nice feel.

On a different note I wish I could have all the books!! I've always ALWAYS loved WC3 lore, it's a great story. Sc2's lore left me . . . unimpressed, so we have to make this amazing. I would love to help you with lore, I'm a decent writer and if any of you have rped in Warcraft (SotDRP) or in Sc2 (Cortex) or any other rping, you should know some basic writing points, hooking the reader/viewer, deatailed writing, describing setting, etc. PHW If you wouldn't mind, I'd possibly like to help you with the lore ideas you write, as long as you wouldn't mind.

I also haven't been working on my orc techtree (sorry, so much math homework, try writing 2 hours of geometric proofs and tell me you're still full of energy, not happening) So I should start working soon, since today we had a snow day, I shoveld a couple hours ago, for a couple hours ,so relaxing. I seem to be rambling now, just a bit, but I'll try to get that techtree done soon.

I love where this project is going. And also as a side note, we should dfinately bring Akama in and Velen as well against Kil'jaden, seeing as Kil'jaden and Akama were both once of the same race until Sargeras corrupted many of the ereder. Akama and Velen would be good choices to have fight against Kil'jaden, I think we should make a dranaei sub-campaign somewhere in here, I wouldn't mind working on some ideas for that, I think the dranaei are a pretty amazing race.

Post.Script. I will be very 'inactive around 27th and for a few days after' Will be preparing for b-day party, though small, I hope to make it amazing, and I will also be playing WoW, which I am getting for christmas, the first 3 not cata, And I will be playing hard.

Thanks for reading my Ramble and rant!

Well I could do with a permanent lore team, but you'll both need to be active and committed. You have the traits, but do you have the time? :p

That may sound weird to some of you, but in wclotd were taking the story very seriously. Too many games take features over stories now-a-days and believe me it shows, we won't be making that mistake. Lore is just as - if not more - important than gameplay.

I don't, never have and probably never will work very heavily in the editor.
Progress will not be any slower, that I assure you.

If you look at the first few pages of this thread, I actually orignally signed up for Writing Director (or some fancy overdressed title ^^ to do with lore/story creation)?
I've just taken on community relation and organisation duties on top of that.
The odd bit I've done in the editor was some lighting tweaks.

Stories make games, without one or with a poor one you may as well release an untitled, unthemed 'tech' demo.
If there's one thing my stance won't change on it's this, the story will play a huge part in the development of the project as long as I have any say (which is as long as I'm in the team).

I have to definately agree, LORE and STORIES are the most important parts about a game. If WC3 didn't have good lore, I never would have been hooked to blizzard like I am. I started playing Wc3 at age 4, about a week before my 5th birthday.

I really don't care too much about the Wc3 campaign, I never really thought the story was all that good either way

Well we don't have a 'tech' demo yet, and we REALLY could use one, people had been getting disillusioned at this project a while ago because no progress seemed/seems to get done. A fun game is more important then a good story, I mean tons of games go along with little to no story. I'm not saying story isn't important, nor am I saying a good story can't make a good game, but we can debate lore here all day and still get absolutely nothing presentable done.

Many people felt otherwise.

Agreed. I've mentioned this several times to TWIF, he's doing what he can (along with Walle/yourself, aso and adam) but our numbers are few and it's hard to garner new members without proof of work, so yeah... paradox there, at least for the moment =/

Sadly that's what most of today's industry thinks anyway.
You don't have to be a genius to work out a lot of people actually do think it's one of the most vital parts, recent games (sc2 seems to be one such) are getting an absurd amount of abuse due to 'cliche or crappy' stories.

FFXIII is another one, ok some liked it, but most will agree that the storyline makes the game, the tech is a nice bonus but most people still prefer the older games to the latest for that sole reason.

Due to poor visual representation old game stories were well thought out, they had to convey it much better. With modern technological advancement stories suffer, (too much?) time is spent on making them look and play nice.
I think a story is the skeleton of a game, it's not oft noticeable but it's vital. Like the human skeleton it keeps everything together, it makes it all worthwhile, gives it structure, purpose.

Yes, these are only my opinions but I believe many share them and seeing as it's my job, the story production isn't hampering physical progress, so we shall continue. It's not like I'm dropping editor work to do it :p

I'm just going to 'spell' it out for you guys...

I WAS HIRED AS A WRITER GUESS WHAT I'M DOING LULZ WRITING TEEHEE.

I was never working in the editor, TWIF knows I'm working on the lore, so idk what the f*ck he's talking about. No one is choosing lore over tech here... I merely stated that I need some more members to help ME with the lore (and voiced my opinion on how important it was).
wtf did all this shiz' come from, no one ever said, twif, walle, wolf, stop working and start writing... D:

Ok, I do not want my eyebrows virtually shaved, now on to business. I would be glad to help you Grey, my time schedule would be, well pretty much anytime after school when I'm done with homework, and chores. And a little after break, wrestling practices start and I'll have less time to work on lore, but I will still have time. I have a piece he that I thought up.

Just off the quiet coast of Theramore a ship sits, rocking ever so slightly in the gentle waves. Soldiers stand guard outside with sword and torch in hand to ward off the darkness of the encroaching night, and any creature that dare stray too far. These soldiers, tired and weary still somehow find it somewhere in themselves to keep themselves awake, this something is survival. The creatures that lurk in these woods are no less than true nightmares. The other part of this survival happens to be making sure that the incoming supplies make their way onto the ship and back to the island.

-Elsewhere-
"Why do we have to walk these damned woods at night? If you ask me, those soldiers should be escorting us themselves. It's their damn supplies in the first place!" said a man who was easily identifiiable as drunk and angry. "Calm yourself Tom, do you want the whole forest on our heels?" a whimper is heard as a man cowers from the sheer boom of the authoratative voice. "Oh, now you gone and scared the damned man, I'll make sure he's ok, you go on ahead captain." As a main left the main group to comfort the scared and drunk Tom, the rest of the party continued on their path to the rendevous. "Atleast we can drop the dead weight, he was slowing us down."

"Tom, are you ok, comeon, we need to catch up with the rest of them, we don't want to be . . ." as the man is cut off by a deep, guttural growl. "What, what was that?" Tom manages to say even through his hazed state. "I'm not sure, but we need to get the hell out of here!" And as he said this, the beast padded out from the undergrowth of the forest floor to confront him. "No, no, not this, I don't want to die!" and then silence as the creature of the night overcame the two men.

-Back at Base Camp-
"Good lord, I need a drink! I'm starting to hear things now" spoke a guard who had obviously heard the cries of Tom and his unknown band member. "Well, here take mine, I 'ont be needing it, gotta' keep sharp. They'll be arriving soon." said Captain Xavius. "Now the lot of you, look sharp, the supplies should arrive within the hour!" "Yesh shir!" said the obviously drunk aforementioned guard. Soldiers at their post, blade and torch in hand waited what seemed an eternity for that one fateful hour to pass, and when they had waited their share of eternity, the supplies arrived, just on time. "Good, men, you keep watch while these boys load the suplies onto the ship." One soldier, who had just a tad too much alcohol failed to see the shape closing in on him and when it hit him, it hit him hard. Within seconds the other soldiers were coming to his aid, but it was too late for him, and it would be too late for them if they didn't act soon. This creature, it stood 7 feet tall, it was shrouded in black and held itself twin blades, one of which was obviously poisoned. The guards charged at the creature, but it was just too quick for them, it jumped over their heads and came down swiping it's blades fast and precisely. Within just a few moments of the assault on the base camp, 3 families were left without a father, a husband or a brother. The soldiers finally reallized that they needed to change their strategy quickly. One guard swiped his blade in a low arc, the creature quickly jumped thinking it too easy, only to have been tricked and slashed higher by another blade. The creature fell, with a gash on it's upper chest. Before the guards could finish the kill, the captain warded them off. "This is a different manner of creature then we have seen, it is limber, acrobatic, and it uses weapons, we must see what it is. Tie it up and bring it into the lower deck." After all knots had been tied, and the mysterious aggresor made ready to be indentified, they drew their blades, even though it was unarmed they did not want to risk anything. As the captain took off the hood of which concealed the creatures face, it was revealed to them that "This man, he is a night elf!"

Yeah, still interested, as long as I do get some block writing options as well, though more dialogue type things might turn up.

Such a fast response xD

Back to say that I totally support your project and that you are making one of my dream realize: playing WC4 before I'm 30 years old with a familly. I'll be 18 december 21th by the way :)

The problem was that I just didn't think a Wc4 would come out from blizzard store, they need to finish D3, SC2X, SC2XX, WoWXXX polishment and patches... D3 on PS3, SC2 marketplace, contests, Blizzcon, Sc2 patching... ... .... .. . .. Where is War4 in that! nowhere :,(
And that's when you guys come and bring that warmth of creativity into my life :)

Unfortunatly school kill me, all of my time is su*ked in. I can't even polish my RPG!
Sorry I wont be part of the project making. Damn school xD

I have a lot of school too, I turn 14 on New Year's Eve, and I'll be having the Second birthday party I've ever had. (My parents are lame when it comes to letting me have parties, let alone friends over at the house) So until around december 23rd I'll be working on this stuff, until we head out for grandparen'ts house for christmas, then on the 27th I'll be playing WoW almost non-stop, yeah you know what I NEED A REAL MMORPG! So i'll try to find time soon to finish the orc-techtree after I finish all these damn projects, my school's teachers love to organize up around 5 or 6 projects and release them all to us about a day or so apart from eachother, isn't that peachy? So i'll be trying to work on all these projects, school and here.

@grey Any specific things that are needed in the lore department, like lore for a certain area, event, etc.?

He's actually unnamed in the game, so any name could fit.
Just like WoW lore, we can only draw on books to a limited extent for the one sole reason:

The majority of Warcraft RTS players haven't read the books! (believe it or not)

We can pull stuff out of it to add in this, but we can't go back and pull 'past' events and put them in the new, so easily because people will be like "wtf, that didn't happen, who, when?!"

Well, let's look at it from this angle; If they haven't read the books, but are lorefreaks, they know what happens in them already. If they don't they don't care that much about the lore :)

No, i care about the lore and havent read the books or played much of wow (enough to know that they ate the lore and deficated it into wow.)

HEY HEY HEY! NEWS

PEAPS, listen up.

Finished the haus and the town hall today :D!

So that brings the tally up to five, also worked on the new Dwarven AA snipers model! gave the ghost a ponch and a beard, shortened the stature, gonna pass it to walle to texture! :D

Not to stick salt in an old wound, (A past dicussion) but I have to agree with the fact that getting a tech demo is much much much more important than lore at the moment. Also, while I love lore, ignorance can be bliss. Who gave a fuck about why mario could jump 4 times his height and jumping on a turtle causes it to loose friction? Noone. The game is legendary, and people still stratigize it, speed run it, and play it all day.
What I saying is that at the moment, people don't want to know how accurate your translation of orcish will be. People want to touch things, get their fingerprints all overthem, exploit them, and then report the exploits to you.

That is all, and if you really love me, you won't restart this conversation that I was so unfortunate to miss.
Sincerely, Mr. Vosters

Hmm... I know that this isnt technically what was requested for any of the four sigs, but i made it while attempting to find a good design for the one that's supposed to be blue-themed.
Can it go for one of the four requested sigs or should i ditch it and start over?

Alright, here's a WIP for one of the banners i am working on.
BannerTWIFWIP.png

It still needs a buttload of polishing, as you can see on the Gryphon's head, and i'm not personally satisfied with it yet.
But, i think you can see where i'm going with this. ;)

This is the one that is supposed to have the text "Warcraft" and "Legacy of the Damned", and the color theme blue.
