Vista is a tad bit better than XP. The problem, is people are not used to it. It is faster in what it does. Also, more features, such as DX10. It may be small features, but more than XP none the less.

Mac is not as good as microsoft in my opinion. (I hope I don't get banned for saying that, lol) Partly, because it runs games better. Also, more programs run for microsoft coms. And because of microsoft's size, people know how to fix problems, and they tell others.

Mac is a great buisness com, but not for games. I find that some people like mac just based off the commersials. (Mainly old, inexperienced users.)

Mac beats Microsoft in some ways, and Microsoft beats mac in others. I must say though, Microsoft "Surface" will be sweet. People say you can do anything on an Ipod that you can do on Surface, but thats not entirely true. Surface may be a lot bigger, but it will be worth seeing resturaunts and stores use this new product in the future.

Another problem is, I have noticed, whenever you talk about mac being bad, people start turning into "zealots" for mac. The truth is, as I said earlier, Mac beats Microsoft in some ways, and Microsoft beats mac in others. You can't for sure say that one is better than the other, because it depends on what your doing with them.

Almost forgot all about the Surface lol... Bill Gates stated that the Microsoft Surface Computer will shrink in time and become a little bit smaller though not the screen only its size.

no thats actually wrong, the majority of businesses use windows xp. i now work as an IT engineer and i know first hand that macs dont really support business for what they need, it is a particularly bad business compter. it all depends on what the business does of course, video and audio production campanies would use macs for their end user computers, but generally windows is the standard. its the reason microsoft is so rich.

Also Windows got a very simple desktop.

My dad bought a mac laptop the other day. It was actually better than his xp laptop he said.
And mac is ran on fewer processes than xp and vista. Also it has updating features which is much more improved than windows. For example, if you want to connect to a wireless printer it finds it immediatly without drivers asking the user: "do you want to download the drivers for this printer"?

Its funny but microsoft has made a version of office pack to mac allowing macusers to use word and excel and all those programs without any issues and file association problems.

What? Are you kidding, Mac is way more user friendly than Windows. It's just that you're used to it.

And that surface thing.. when is it due out? And when are predictions for when it will actually become common/useful to the common man?

You're right that I am used to the Windows Desktop which makes it easier for me to use. Probably someone new to computers would find Mac's Desktop easier to use.
The Microsoft Surface Computer is already shipped.

Surface will be as fun as most games with the interaction level of a Wii. Also, it will be a handy tool for things such as media and traveling. It would not be the best FPS platform, but it will be very nice for RTS games. Imagine, unzooming your SupCom game to max and ordering your units with your fingertips. The only problem, is the res will be a bit large.

Mac is better for easy to use controls for swift buisness usage. Microsoft is better for media programs and such. Some people like Microsoft because it is familiar to them. As I said earlier, Mac beats Microsoft in some ways, and Microsoft beats Mac in others. We can not for sure say which is better. It all depends on how familiar you are with it, and what your doing.

Great point though!

Microsoft being better for media is a quite debatable point. The only point I can see is games. That's it. Both are good for everything else, and Macs are (in my experience) more stable.

Macs are newer so they no one has encountered as much problems. But again, good point.
What the hell are you talking about? Newer? Macs were around as long as Windows, in fact I think it may have been around for longer.

Bill Gates and a friend made the Microsoft com (really old) in a garage a long time ago. Also, the US made something like a com, that then lead Microsoft. Altho, at the time it was for military purposes. You may be correct though. I'm not entirely sure. Anyways, no need to take it to the heart or anything. A bit strange how macs may have been older yet they made less sales. In my opinion, Microsoft is a tad bit better for what it does then mac. But thats just my opinion. Nothing to argue about anyways. I am open for all suggestions.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Computer Your right! Mac did come first.

Im not too lazy to check. Here is my facts. Bother trusting wikipedia? I actually do...
For some reasons you cant just post whatever you like there. It has references and footnotes.

Macintosh, or for newer models, Mac, is a brand name which covers several lines of personal computers designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. The original Macintosh was released on January 24, 1984; it was the first commercially successful personal computer to feature a mouse and a graphical user interface (GUI) rather than a command line interface.

The idea for a personal computer appropriate for the ordinary consumer dates to the late 1970s and an Apple development team was established in 1979. After the success of the original Macintosh in 1984, the company quickly established market share only to see it dissipate in the 1990s as Microsoft came to monopolize personal computing. Apple consolidated multiple, consumer-level desktop models into the 1998 iMac all-in-one, which sold extremely well and saw the brand name revitalized. Current Mac systems are mainly targeted at the home, education, and creative professional markets. They are: the aforementioned (though upgraded) iMac and the entry-level Mac mini desktop models, the workstation-level Mac Pro tower, the MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops, and the Xserve server.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) (SEHK: 4338) is an American multinational computer technology corporation. It develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of software products for computing devices.[9][8] Microsoft's best-selling products are the Microsoft Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software.

Founded to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800, Microsoft rose to dominate the home computer operating system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s. The company released an initial public offering (IPO) in the stock market, which, due to the ensuing rise of the stock price, has made four billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires from Microsoft employees.[18][19][20] Throughout its history the company has been the target of criticism for various reasons, including monopoly status and anti-competitive business practices including refusal to deal and tying. The U.S. Justice Department and the European Commission, among others, have ruled against Microsoft for various antitrust violations.[21][22]

Based upon these facts I agreed with Gilles.

Edit: didnt see your link Mr.Bob before I pasted all this^

Have you seen Windows 1 and 2? It makes me vomit! This really shows how far the technology has advanced!

Nope but our family have had a windows 3.1 (one stationary and one on laptop)
They were actually fun, with small games less that 1mb each :p

My favorite at that time, was a game called Supapflex, which I finished 100/110 levels on^^

Though, yes, it lacked to almost 100% compared to the computers and os' nowadays

i heard somewhere that that bill gates bought the code for dos from a guy he was at college with who went on to work for apple. he bought it for a burger or something retarded like that.
That could just be rumors nothing more. Do you have any facts about it:p?

I said 1, 2 but not 3. I would actually like to try the old games they were lots of fun. I especially like Tobular Worlds which was my favorite.
Heh, Bill Gates is the more tactical one with the huge decisions while his collage room mate Steve Balmer is/was the one who controlled sells etc.

Iam not a computer fan at all. I dread everything about them. Here is my checklist of what I can do on the vista.

-Run Warcraft III
-Play Music
-Type my reports
-Check my emails
-Interweb surf
-Visit Hive

Then again my old XP could produce the same checklist. I will take a wild guess and assume all computers have the same level of productivity since my Windows 98? At least 98 had classic games like space invaders and asteroids not Vista's ink ball and mahjong. So many years of new technology and we have only lost what really matters. Same goes for the xbox 360 garbage I purchased last month. SuperNintendo>360 I would trade this new tech for my old system any day.

Here are some of the main reasons people hate Vista

Vista has some compalibility issues with some games(varies with different vista users)
The security is so much higher, that it pissed off so many that when they tried hacking Vista(shit they do with XP) it backfires and shits you in the face :p
Another reason is its quite a different layout
The constant small window messages asking you if this and that is alowed(can easily get used to)

Overall Vista was meant to be better then XP, it is, its just run into some issues, and it mainly pissed off a LOT of hackers(That changed shit in XP)

Microsoft listened to their public and produced cheap Xboxes. But then they had to produce their own graphic chips which resulted in they getting a fine. Microsoft shouldn't always listen to the public...

I voted for XP

My reasons:

Vista:

Alright Points:
Nice scheme ideal for work places due to of the handle gadgets.

Bad Points:
Bad protection, to many errors (tho xp had loads of errors but then it got better after sp updates).

XP:

Good Points:
Faster then vista if you are aiming to use a lot of apps or play games.
Good ideal for gamers, modelers, graphic designers, movie makers due to the high performance.

Bad Points:
Not a very good scheme.

I've used XP Pro ever since it came out i'm never really going to use vista until they release SP3 for it or just wait for the next OS and see how good that is.

So you dont think thats good then D:?
Or does that show you who you are-.-

I know this because my best friend, my step brother, and my nephew used top hack XP and when they tried on Vista... I Loled

Some hate it because they can't hack it like XP, some people can hack vista successfully, others just get smacked in the face by the system.
