Video Setting : Model quality

Okay, before someone said 'This should be in Modelling and Anim forum' i want to point:
I was messing with my WC3, and set the model quality to low. And tada! Sucky models (except Lich, which ain't change)
But where did they store this sucky models?
They are not in MPQ? I checked the model (the model in MPQ is the model quality on setting 'high') and the model does not contain it.
Did models kept the sucky version, or did blizzard hid them, or did WC3 was so smart so it converts part they think it's useless?
Oh, btw low setting footman rocks.

They arent stored anywhere. They doesn't even exist really.

It's programmed, that if you lower the graphics, it will reduce the polygon count and texture
resolution.

They are stored in the MPQ.

Just... in another MPQ.

Extract war3Med.mpq and war3Low.mpq and have a ball. Some models don't down-size because they don't have overrides in these MPQs (e.g. duplicate models marked 'cinematic').
