One sentence description:
Defend Australia against waves of mecha emus coming from portals.

The map will be Australia. Around the map there are several cities, defended by a couple of npc soldiers. honestly it's a bit of a meme but it's an idea which keeps coming back to me, the time has come for it to be cast out into the wilderness for to plague someone else.

Throughout the game the players will be tasked with defending the various cities, a portal will open just outside the city and waves of mecha beasts will come out.
Different types of mecha have different abilities, stats and roles/ai (ie some might go straight for attacking the city, some might stealth to attack the city, some might attack the defenders)
More players = high spawn numbers.
Further through the game = higher spawn numbers and harder mech types.

Examples of mecha emus:
Thermoptic Camo Emu - wind walks on spawn and prioritises attacking defenders npcs.
Earth Emu - explodes on death causing an earthquake, don't let these guys near the city!
Water Emu - heals nearby emus with aura, on death creates a healing ward which heals emus.
Fire Emu - sets stuff on fire prioritises attacking the city building.
Giant Fire Emu - high hp, slow, sets stuff on fire, prioritises attacking buildings, AOE attack

Emu Swarm Master - Places a flag, then quickly spawns a swarm of smaller emus (which cannot attack buildings) which attack the flagged location (to prevent camping). Either move away from the flag or kill the swarm master. Or be overwhelmed!
Artillery Emu - Designates an area to attack, fires rockets are areas nearby the designated area.
Rocket Emu - On low hp goes berzerk and blows up on death.

Sll sorts of silly emu ideas.



Human players would pick between various hero characters (using Herr Daves Models)

Machine Gunner - Defensive hero
Model - Herr Daves Old English Machine gunner team (or new/current one)

Mines - Can place mines
Defensive position - Can use an ability which places an invulnrable ward at that location which a short range endurance aura and small healing. Modelled like sandbags, a med box and a flag.
Suppressing Fire - Once activated last x seconds. attacks slow their target, also gives aoe
Artillery Barrage - Select an area which will be bombarded over time (not a channeling ability so the gunner can move around whilst the barrage happens) Target anywhere on map.



Officer - Minion Master Hero
Model - Herr Daves English officer

Recruit Troops - Summons troops up to a limit
Charge! - All nearby friendly units move faster, first attack does more damage then removes the buff.
Walk it off - Single target rejuvination type spell to cast on allies, bonus healing whilst they move.
Grenades! - Throws a grenade at an area. Each of the recruited troops in range are also given given weaker grenades then ordered to use the grenades at the same location. Creating a barrage.



Veteran - Rugged Fighter Hero
Model - Based on Herr Daves old german infantry in a picklehaub with melee animations, reskinned to look like the hunter from Jumaniji or a victorian era soldier.

Affix bayonet - turns into melee fighter
Good eatin - On killing an enemy creates a ham hock item which can be eaten to heal
Musicbox - Places a ward (modelled like a Phonograph) which has an aura buffing attack of nearby units.
Dum Dum bullets - (only available in shooting mode) Does more damage but more armour = less damage. Causes knockback.
Sharpened Bowie - Thats not a knife. No idea what this would do.



Engineer - Flexible Hero
Model - american soldier with shotgun

Shrapnel - Creates a cone of shrapnel from the shotgun damaging enemies in a cone.
Emp shell - Target a single mechanical unit, slow it's movement and attack speed. On death it explodes damaging and slowing enemies.
Fire Grenade - Throws a firebomb at an area which stays there for a while, for area control
First Aid Tent - builds a first aid tent which heals allies nearby, also removes negative buffs
