I have installed Windos SP3 3 weeks ago beliving that it`s better than SP2.

I had to patch the uxtheme.dll so that i can change the boring windows theme.

I'm now able to use custom themes but tons of applications are not working anymore(for example: Google Chrome my default web-browser and, most important, JassNewGen)

Remember, i`m talking about SP 3, not SP 2. I found not hotfixes on microsoft's website for this.

I've already tried to unpatch the uxtheme.dll by extracting the one from my Windows XP SP3 CD and then replace the patched one under windir/sys32/ with the original one but it ain't work for some reason. (cdHome/i386/ CMD -> expand uxtheme.dl_ uxtheme.dll)

Anybody knows how can i solve the issue?

Eleandor, what on earth makes you think i`m looking for this kind of help?

Anybody, even those who never seen a PC in their whole life, could think of such pointless solution.

But maybe that was just a joke.

If you EVER patch windows keep a backup. Also, make sure you have read/write full permissions, and re-import it if something goes badly. At this point, backup everything but windows, registry too, reformat, fully update and paste all data, then import registry.

Yes, you got it. Very useful in situation where a spreading virus cannot be stopped and just keeps coming back or you need the speed. I done it 4 times now, and its working fine.

Also, having a Windows XP (or other OS you have) disk is also handy, you can use the Recovery Console and type the command to format without entering after boot. Backup seems to be a good cause of keeping your files safe.
