WHAT IS TRAP BRAWLER?

Key points:

  1. Trap Brawler is a skill-based arena without any direct upgrades.
  2. You have one type of trap, sidearm, and a support ability.
  3. You may have any combination of said abilities.
  4. There are different game modes. No mode is the same: you will likely have to adapt your abilities towards the scenario.
  5. And most importantly,
    shit blows the fuck up

BASIC MECHANICS

There are two essential mechanics to Trap Brawler: Detection and Disarming.

Players use the Detect Traps ability to spot any traps in their vicinity.
Traps may be disarmed, but a short numerical code must be typed in order for it to be disabled. That's pretty much it, though.


ABILITY SELECTION

Players select a combination of 3 abilities as seen below.
Additionally, certain combinations of skills may give you a Set Bonus. Point at an icon for a brief description.

GAME MODES


TDM - Team Deathmatch
Each team begins 25 lives, decreasing by one with each death.
The team with more lives is the winner.​

TLM - Team Elimination
A single-life mode.
Victory is achieved either through eliminating all opponents, or by having more teammates alive than the other team.​

BASE - Base Mission
Three bases are set up across the map, which must be captured.
The team which has conquered all bases, or with the most of at the end of the round, is the victor.​

CAP - Capture Mission
Players must bring and hold the target to their respective goals for 30 seconds.
The team which has depleted the timer first, or has held the target for the most total time, wins.​

BOMB - Bomb Mission
A single-life mode.
The attacking team's goal is to plant the bomb at one of the three target points and defend it until it detonates.
Defending players protect these points and disarm the bomb by using the Disable Trap ability.​

VIP - VIP Mission
A random player is set as the VIP and must be escorted to two points on the map.
The attacking team must eliminate the VIP, or prevent the VIP from completing each checkpoint.​

DM - Deathmatch
A free-for-all deathmatch where the players compete for the highest score.​

SCAP - Solo Capture
A free-for-all mode where the players fight to hold the target for the longest period of time.
A player wins for keeping the target for 60 seconds​

BOSS - Boss Survival
A one-versus-all game mode. The Boss is significantly stronger than normal, and must
eliminate all members of the Defending team.​

I strictly recommend and request AI for this map.

look, this is not one of these maps where you could easily implement AI; this map isn't as simple as you think it is

if you were to look at some generic hero arena, it most likely involves the player killing creeps and opposing users; this can easily be replicated with simply "attack move at some specific point" and "run away when low on health" from what i can tell

im pretty sure this map is more than mindlessly killing creeps/opposing players... there would be a myriad of actions which the AI would have to think of (and i imagine it would become tiresome to trigger) unless you can prove otherwise

I found some bugs though,

[] - Multiboard is updating wrong slot after leaver.(see this pic for more information.) pic
[] - There's leaks somewhere, it is really lag and unplayabe upon stage 3 phase.
[] - Rarely, I can't detonate a manual bomb, instead I can plant more than 1 bomb.
? - I want to ask about knockback, is it suppose to knock opposite of facing angle instead away from the bomb?

Multiboard is updating wrong slot after leaver
the multiboard is really glitchy at times, and I honestly don't know what causes it to screw up like that

There's leaks somewhere, it is really lag and unplayabe upon stage 3 phase
i've noticed that too; i'm still looking into it

Rarely, I can't detonate a manual bomb, instead I can plant more than 1 bomb.
another bug that has been around for a while, i'll try looking into it

I want to ask about knockback, is it suppose to knock opposite of facing angle instead away from the bomb?
i know the knockback is pretty strange, but that's how it's been since the first version; i'm considering making it look more "realistic," though

Very Fun and interesting game to play.
That is the only problem i am usually encountering.
Sometimes the healing skill does not work even if i wait very long.
Items would also be nice.
Like a Shield Item that can block/reduce bomb explosions that are in front of you or maybe it could block/return/reduce damage of ranged attacks(throw dagger,flare gun)
Or maybe when you have blast shield skill you get a shield attachment.

I like this map, something new for Warcraft mini games.
The idea is pretty nice and the game is really challenging.
Creating tactics and teamwork is a must on this kind of game and that is what i like most.

Suggestions:

-"Dont put currency"
if you're planning to improve the map, please don't add currency mechanics.
buying stuff is not that good specially for new players. it will give advantage to the
players who know the game already. by not putting currency in the game makes it
more balanced and removing advantage thru items. So the focus of the game is to
think what trap, secondary, and third skill is the best on each situation. making the
game more challenging without limiting anyone for what item you have.

-"Weapons and Terrain"
as i play the game, i noticed that weapons pass thru walls and blockade.
try to make "throwing dagger", "grappling hook", and any long range weapon to be
not able to pass thru wall.
well, depending on the range weapon like poison flask(not sure 'bout the name)
which is like a projectile, but have a small range. should pass thru short wall since its
a projectile like weapon.
Make the terrain more interactive to the game. giving advantage and disadvantage
depending on your position and what so ever. like a blind corner to hid on. or a wall to
block range weapon, places that will slow you down. or a sliding mechanic for icy
terrain. etc.
-"trap and skill selection interface"
improve the trap selection. make it more easily distinguishable like putting a name
under each selection for trap, secondary weapon, and skill.
-"try to make various trapper"
this is a nice map but it will be much better if you make a trapper characters which
have a different passive characteristics. for example: athletic=move slightly faster,
tough=more hp and armor, scout longer sight rage and trap detection. etc.
-"tertiary improvement"
tertiary skills add more fun in this game. but if you gonna make different trapper.
it will be nice to make all of tertiary skill "active" leaving "passive" skills to character
selection. so you can add more in this selection.

if I could do this I would; unfortunately I haven't achieved god tier map making yet to do so

e.g. I'm too retarded to make this game's projectile engine take height into account

na I just need to put more active tertiarties altogether; feel free to suggest any ideas you might have, because I pretty much don't have any (lol)

I'll surely check this out. Seems real fun. The only problem i think i'll see with this is long drawn out games because trap games are usually full of slowfests thanks to barricading up with traps. The trap dismantlement thing seems kinda fun tho :3

Found a bug in the map: after finishing the bomb mode and transitioning to the team death match mode, we were all invulnerable and people who had died did not respawn. So we ran around doing 0 damage to each other for a little bit. But I do like the map!

AMAZING MAP! I love especially the cave arena :D where everything is dark. You just are a genius. But please try to add more weapons or abilities... something that would prove useful in different combos... like a weapon that gives + damage when the target was hit by gas...

Anyway, just genius! keep it up!

기타 개선 할점이 조금있다
