So, gents, it's about time... We discussed this.

Basically what I want to know is whether or not you guys think now (or the coming month) is a good time to be hosting another official Terraining Contest.

Basically, what concerns me is school people, will be get as many entires as we would if we timed in better with school vacations? Can we time it with school vacations? (Considering different time-zones) Or should be just give a fuck and hope it inspires people to enter?

In the case where we decide it's best to host it within the month, is anyone feeling willing to volunteer as judges? I'll be needing about two or three.
(Obviously, if you're not ravenously willing to judge, I'll step in as one)

Also, have a look at this:

Fladdy took the liberty of making a contest sheet for me, so I reckon I know his answer, but hey, give it a look over if you feel like it and let me know if anything strikes you as odd or wrong. Ciao.

Great, after having read the contest over I see we'd need a less witty description and some other abnormalities need to be ruled out, not because I like boring, but because we have to expect out contestants to be morons.

I'll give you lads roughly one week to respond, then I'll make up a decision of my own.

this month and the next should fare well for a terraining contest if you give the contestants a long enough period to finish their terrains, school has just started and people should not have a lot of work yet and besides the winter vacation is rather short and i'm thinking people have other things to do during the holidays

On the theme of the contest,I for one think its a lil bit too abstract,i mean almost any terrain could be said to display a certain emotion. It would make it kinda hard to judge terrains on the theme criteria.Talking about judges,I don't feel apt enough to be a judge and neither do i have the time, sorry for letting you guys down.:(

Well, the hour of discussing the theme is over, you should have both paid better attention to the theme discussion thread, because now I've settled for this theme and that's about how it's going to be. I can justify that by admitting it's rather abstract, but I don't see how that's a negative thing, especially with continual drop in terrainer activity, making a theme hard to comprehend makes it harder to enter and thus it doesn't entice people who either haven't terrained before or people of a low skill level in terraining, and that's what we want; new blood.

And on the part about you, elredir, not being "qualified," that's bullshit, and if you don't consider yourself qualified then you're fooling yourself. I wouldn't have asked you to join this jury unless I was sure you'd be capable of all aspects a Jury-Member needs to be capable of, which I described in the new sticky over at the terrain board.

So that about sums it up, unless anyone pulls some magically great argument against it out of their arse, I'll be hosting the contest sometime during this or next week.

It's not a bad theme. It certainly doesn't limit people in any way, but it allows the judges to really get into the theme. If that makes sense...

Basically I think it works, but the judges need to do a good and fair job.

I'd say we should change up the description a tad, we have to expect morons to read it.

... And I'd like to see a change in the picture used.

If you do that, I'll give you the privilege of hosting it,
it is basically your contest, anyway.
