TERRAIN: Transitioning Between Cliffs

Hi,

Does anyone have any tips and tricks for transitioning between cliff types? In particular I'm talking about the gap between different cliff types and making it feel more natural? (Image below of the kind of thing I mean)

You could just not use cliffs, I remember reading a while back about people just raising the terrain instead of using cliff tiles. It was real neat, make the map just shallow water level and then raise it above the water, it made for the most amazing transition into a beach. Lemme see if I can find it
