Ok well, we want the terrain to be like a city, but it has been attacked. And all you see now is the remains of it, and there is like blight everywhere. And there are like corpses, blood, and burned buildings. Please if you can help reply here.

What I don't want : Overuse of corpses. Too many trees. Too much debris.
What I do want : Nice use of corpses, trees, not too much debris, but still have some, fire but do not over use it. And make it look like it has been like this for a long time if you can. Maybe some destroyed cars, and dropped guns, include corpses of zombies and aliens, but do not overcrowd.

Okay, so at you request a terrainer. Then you post twice more each in a span of 25 minutes with nothing but Vague information, and Please Help Us. Please don't do that. No offense, but this looks like a sloppy project, and it sure doesn't seem inviting to me. Try making a more formal request, one with information and background to the game.

People here don't really like it when others post as if it's an IM. Not sure why... I guess because they want it more formal and professional.

Ok is that good? I hope you can understand, if you can't tell me.

It's not very kind to not help someone just because they have a low number of posts, both of us are very poor terrainers, and that is why we're looking for help.

If you would like to know why people wouldnt very likely take this request heres some hints:
1. u just did a double post (use edit button)
2. both of you guys replay each after another (seems like bumping to me)
3. description doesnt hold enough for an terrainer, for example tell us about tiles to use, map size, tileset, enviroment settings, whats map gonna be like (impossible if not).
4. terrainers doesnt like terrains going to waste, a whole lot of work... for what? an unfinished project? no thanks...
5. as for the project seems very sloppy as gilles said and very unserious as you dont follow much of the forum rules and description is really poor.

Try and terrain it yourself, then post screenshots here, and we can help you with improving it. Instead of giving us as little information as possible.

We don't even know what you want; a human city, an orc city, a modern city? Tell us so we know. And if you suck so bad at terraining there's no possibility to help you to improve, at least find some pictures to help us understand.

Seriously. It's cruel

Be glad this is teh Hive and not some place else.

I'm all for impulse terraining, but you've given no info about map layout what-so-ever, and that's just foolish. I mean, what kind of map is it? All terrain doesn't go with all genres.

Use Lorderon Fall in a 192 x192 map. Use a lot of grass, dirt, rough dirt, and try to style it like a Fallen city, but not medieval like futuristic, like 20 years
into the future from now. Make it look like a plague hit, show lots of corpses and blood show some trees, dead trees, sort of like this
Terrain1.gif

Terrain2.gif

Terrain3.gif

These are just some examples, as you see i am not a very good terrainer. so try to make it look like this but better
The project is like a marine map if you know what that means.

Your not that bad. Terrain is not very hard. I also suggest creating the map, THEN asking for help finishing the terrain. Most people do not want to put out a bunch of effort for the project to flop.

Rule number one for requests: Get your map in beta phase. Or close to. That way people can see if it has promise. If it does, people will be glad to help. People (especially models and skinners) don't like to let their work go to waste.

Don't give up. If I get time, I may help you out. But first I, and I'm sure others, want to see the map working. In an ugly terrain. Get the triggers and object data to about 80%.

I apologize if you feel you are getting too much negative feedback, but we get requests a lot. Mostly Models and skins.

1) Do not treat this forum like a instant messenger ... YOU WILL GET NEG REP LIKE WHAT I HAD
2) like alot of ppl said do the terrain yourself ... As maybe you oready have a kind of pic of what u want in your head ... after terraining ... post it here again so that pro terrainers can help you improve on it

AND

you sound like some kind of big boss coming here and like ordering ppl what you want dem to do ... it doesnt sound like a request to me ... IT SOUNDS LIKE AN ORDER

while your jus a newbie wif 5 rep

and what you doin a map just like the show I AM LEGEND ... just asking x)

sry for flaming at u ... im jus trying to be honest ... think what other ppl will think b4 u say or type it ... GOOD LUCK WIF URE MAP

I said that I would help if you get a lot of the triggers and gameplay done. I would just try and improve on your terrain, but honestly, I think you could make a pretty good one on your own.

rep means nothing. There are a ton of awesome mappers out there that are not part of this site, or they don't post other than than their own project thread. You should base it on the quality of the map thus far.

Do you rly think i judge people by that?

I dont, but still yes. People without any numbers first seem to be quite nooby in the first place but you've got to gain some rep first offcourse (Not only the diamonds i mean REAL rep)

Anyways.. i think you are immediatley asking for help.. couldnt you just try terraining it yourself?

1) It will be a good experience
2) It will be another addition to your world editor skills
3) You wont need that much help anymore at making a balanced map in terrain/gameplay
4) You may even be talented and make nice terrain for fun!

So? Just give it a shot and watch the other terrain submitted here. Learn something from them and try to create your own.

I am doing some of the terrain. It looks quite good, I would want you guys to finish it up, and make it look better when I finish. Thank you,

Just take screenies of your terrain ( if it has no imports i suggest you dont do 3d ones ) and post them. Get some feedback on how to get it nicer. and then learn from it and continue improving your skills..

Tile variation is your biggest problem so far. You also need more environment doodads. If I get time I could juice up the terrain. If you look at Castle Siege you can see how I took a... not so great terrain... and made it better.

Your roads are too straight. Even though roads can be straight in real life, for some reason it looks bad in wc3. Just make them less perfect.

I was going to say that!

You are aways faster then me, Gilles!

But all you forgot to talk about the fog.
Use a fog at your map, this aways gives the "feeling". I suggest you to use a very dark blue fog.

Yeah, money-meow, you got all the constructive critcism you need. To improve your terrains you only need to train more and learn with the pro's work. You'll see how that is going to help!
