I never really saw MLP has a meme either. Crossovering it with everything? Maybe. Stuff like sticking flutterrageface on everything? Yeah. The show itself? Not a meme.

I'm glad it was "upgraded" to subculture a while ago. Much more appropriate.

Oh so it's a subculture now. I guess two more months and it will be an entire culture... oh god.

DA is crawling with lots of creepy stuff and people... really, I have no idea why I come there.

Two things especially killed me there.
1.Try searching for Witch Hunter on dA. You'll get freaking 20 pages of L4D Witch x Hunter fanart.
2.Try searching Russia. You get literally 80 pages(probably even more, I didnt want to go further) of fanart of the character symbolizing Russia from Axis Powers Hetalia. It's scary.

Not to mention the weirdos there, like one pregnant women fetish dude, who's album is 20 pages of drawn pregnant women.

Still, I ignore all the weird stuffs around and yet, DA has something good that hive doesn't: "No Hate" (ugh, that didn't sound too right), well there are some trolls around but not as much as here. This place has turned into a battle scene, you have to admit it, even though we ignore it or don't believe it. Almost 90% of people here has been neg repped at least once, for doing something silly. But comparing, this place of course deserves more serial people, since after all, this is a blizzard-games site.

Hahahahahahaha sounds like someone hasn't ever visited a site he's talking about

Well dA is really scary with the people making only good comments. Seriously, even if I open a picture of a noodle made out of 4 lines in MS Paint, there will be comments saying "Nice work dude =D", "I like it!" and something like "You are inspiring =P"
I mean come on, even if the piece of art is real scary, weird, and disturbing, and it should be normal for there to be some sort of a comment about the picture being disturbing, but only things I see is "<3", "So cool!" and "Yea!"

Here we go with one of the first insults people pull out of the bag when they are looking for an insult, any insult to sling and they aren't capable of coming up with one that actually makes sense. This site couldn't exist without moderators so I'm hoping you adjust your opinion.

But really it's quite obvious you've never been on DA, seeing as the site is chock full of trolling.

@Al

DA just seems to be a really poor place to get feedback because the majority of it's users know nothing about making actual art, either that or they feel they would hurt their friends feelings if they give actual feedback on their pieces so it ends up that most comments like that are either misinformed or being overly nice. Also, like youtube, there the quality of your work is fairly inconsequential when compared to the subject matter when it comes to getting views - I mean you can get thousands of views on a stamp that says 1 line about something you hate that took 5 seconds of work while someone else gets no views for a masterpiece just because they're not already popular.

(dang post size limits)

Lets just say they didn't make up the word dArama for nothing. Also dA is the origin of trollface. :v

To my knowledge one of the main concerns other art sites (like conceptart.org) have with deviantart is (partially due to it being used as a social network) as Wwtw stated the lack of feedback. Also note that there are a lot of (mostly) younger users on the site that simply don't know how to take constructive criticism and pretty much react to it in a "LEAVE ME ALONE! WHY ARE YOU HATING ON ME?" kind of way. If it isn't for the user, then it's sometimes fans of user that will jump to the defense when a comment clearly wasn't meant to be a personal attack (although I do have the feeling that other people do sometimes jump in the discussion to repeat the given feedback because they know the one receiving it or the fans will react badly to it). As a result the only way for serious artists to actually get some feedback is usually to specifically ask for it.

I was on DA enough to make a comparation with the first impression I got about hive at the time it was new for me.
Let's see, after seen like 100 model pages in hive, I might say that 15 or more had a troll in there. While on DA I found only 2. That's why I believe there isn't many, but then again, it depends on what kind of resources you're actually searching. So you can't actually say which site has more trolls on it.

And yes, I know it's essential to forum sites to have moderators, but of course, they are bound to the site and have a high responsability if they want to stay as moderators. And as far as I know, moderators doesn't get actually nothing in exchange for their work, that's why I think it's a waste of time.
But tell me, what does has of good to be a moderator actually? I'm quite intrigued about it.

(Well I insult when people mock me to, I preffer constructive comments like the one you made now than the previous one)
