Everything ends sooner or latter. But I don't think it will be Starcraft 2 that kills warcraft 3. Fantasy lovers won't change the game because of graphics (which honestly most games today offer just that).

I agree actually
AoS and Rpgs and other hero-leveling-based-maps are very sympathic in warcraft

there should be a map without any major flaws. (stares at Dota and Cutom Hero arena)
And there shouldn't be any map protections, since you can put a note somewhere to tell that "this map has been made by <your name>" in Jass trigger format.

I'm currently working on an another game's revival, so count me out unless Its worth it.
