[General] Shadow for local player?

Hello,

basically the title. Is there a good way to create a shadow on the map that isn't seen by all players without causing a desync?

Changing player alliances to do it with invisible units would lead to a lot of other problems.
Would a shadow be possible to do with Special Effects? Effect visibility can be different for local player, does that help? Note that you must still create the vfx for all players.
 
I have not tested this so it might not be possible anymore but in the past you could catch the shadow of a unit like this. Now if that still works you can instead of destroying the units shadow simply hide it locally.

Edit: i guess you only want to do images and not crazy unit shadow stuff. I'm pretty sure you can safely show and hide images locally.
