Semi-hero?

Hello guys, I just came across this while I develop my Inventor hero, and I've just finished the concepts. Creating the spells won't be a problem, but a big part of the hero is composed by his Mechbot companion.
Ever played Azeroth Wars? There are units which don't have the Hero icon but still have the experience bar and may even learn abilities.
If you know how to make that, please post here.
