A lot of ppl use diff resolutions these days both 1024x768 default for wc3 and also many use widescreen res's

When i make text show up in the middle of the screen for ppl that use 4:3 (1024x768) it looks dumb for ppl using 16:9 (widescreens) and same for other way around.
Is there a way to display text and have it show in the middle of the screen regardless of the users resolution? if so how?

Edit the Upkeep text (gameplay interface, and display it by setting food for all players), or use a floating text.

You can't. The best "solution" is just to allow the user to input their resolution. (have some default resolution, like 1024x768, but give the user the option to set the resolution) I recommend that you use dialogs for that.

Then just come up with some calculations to work for each resolution.

You could also use a fade filter.

Create the text in photoshop or gimp, and make the background transparent.

Import it as a .blp or .tga file, and select it in the fade filter menu.

widescreen resolutions look terrible due to fixed GUI ratios, but alas I regress.

The best solution is to simply not count on game text being centered - floating text is your best bet.
