Help and Resources
Please refer to the answers below before posting questions.
1. Download the campaign ZIP file onto your computer. (DOWNLOAD button near the top of the page)
2. Unzip the file and extract its contents into "Maps/Download" in your Warcraft 3 folder.
Unzipping files can vary depending on your operating system (Windows, Mac, etc), but it should involve something like this:
1. Right click on .zip file that you want to unzip and click on "Extract All".
2. In the "Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders" dialog, enter a folder path where you want files to be extracted.Once done, click on "Extract" button to start the extraction.
Once the map files have been extracted into your Warcraft 3 folder, you will be able to play the Scourge Campaign as a Custom Game for each individual map. (Battle-net play is currently being investigated)
How does it work?
Each time you complete a mission, a Hero save code is automatically saved in a text file on both player's computers. At the beginning of the next map, this code can be used to recover your Heroes by doing the following (only one player needs to do this):
a. Minimize the current game (Alt+Tab).
b. Open "CustomMapData\{CHAPTER NAME}.txt" in your Warcraft III folder.
c. Copy (Ctrl+C) the "load xxxx-xx..." text in the text file. Do not close the file, as doing so will make the code not copy over prior to Warcraft 3 versions 1.28.
d. Go back into Warcraft 3 and paste (Ctrl+V) the code into chat and press ENTER.
Which player will have the save file?
The text file containing the Hero save code will save on both player's computers unless one player dropped out during the mission.
Where is my Warcraft 3 folder?
This will depend on your version of Warcraft 3:
Prior to 1.28 -> Either on your C drive or the location in which you installed Warcraft 3. An example path could be "C/Program Files/Warcraft 3"
1.28 and beyond -> Located in your Documents folder
Copying the text code into Warcraft 3 chat doesn't work. What should I do?
If the code does not appear in chat after pressing Ctrl+V, this is because you closed the text file before pasting the code into Warcraft 3.
If the code you copied into Warcraft 3 results in an error message, this could be either the code was modified or you are attempting to load the save code for the wrong map.
If the code you copied and entered into chat does not do anything, this is most likely a bug and should be reported to either Turnro or Ljarvisone.
- Maps have been worked on while keeping true to their original versions
- Improved save/load system. Players no longer have to remember and type long tedious codes! Instead, the game will automatically store codes in a text file that can be copied and pasted straight into chat
- Players get one main hero in each mission, with bases automatically shared between them. Earlier 2-player campaigns had players control separate bases, requiring huge balance changes and altering the original feel of the maps
- Maps can be played solo, especially if one player drops out of the game. This gives the other player the choice of either leaving or continue on to win the mission for the team
- New heroes fit the story of the campaign and do not feel poorly added
It seems I am unable to host the map on battle.net. Just get instantly disconnected and unable to connect again.
Is it made for LAN only?
Turnro, I started playing this today, and I cracked up when I saw Falric. The stein123/HoS Necromancer is actually a custom model called ScourgeNecromancer.mdx. The skin in this is a crappy recolor I made as a placeholder Ymirjar necromancer for the Vrykul. I do, however, appreciate seeing my materials being used by others.

Otherwise, this very much lives up to The-Spoon's quality, and I find the save-load system much easier to work with in this version. Hard Mode is no lie; I'm a pretty fair player and have played the original TFT campaign on its highest difficulty, and I got stuck on Mission 1 on hard. That's not a criticism. I'm always impressed when a Hard Mode makes me rethink whether I want to play it on that difficulty. I'm only a couple missions in, but I have enjoyed it so far. I always love getting to see more co-op content.
EDIT: By the way, the Mission 1 interlude cannot be played multiplayer. Both players are on the same team. Otherwise no issues.![]()
Is this campaign only playable for 2 players? And can't be played by only one? Just asking. Thx for the answer?
How to unzip the file?
I cant find this map in game. It doesnt show up in any way. I even tried to resave it. Any thoughts about reasons? Any other map/campaign loads well.
Put them in the Maps folder after taking them out of the archive. If you can't see them, try renaming them because sometimes a long file name results in maps not being seen by the game. It happens to me.I cant find this map in game. It doesnt show up in any way. I even tried to resave it.
Thanks, that's what i needed.Double Check you have the latest patch and if so does your file path look like: Documents\Warcraft III\Maps\Download ?
But now i have another question: Is this anyhow launchable in 1.26 warcraft version? The only way to play with my friend relies on this version and not 1.28.
Where do i find this "CustomMapData\{CHAPTER NAME}.txt"
Where can i find that folder? I opened Warcraft III folder and I couldn't find itThe "CustomMapdata" folder is only created once you complete a map.
If you have the latest patch, The file path should look something like this: Documents\Warcraft III\CustomMapData
Otherwise it might look more like this one: C:\Program Files(x86)\Warcraft III\CustomMapData
Where can i find that folder? I opened Warcraft III folder and I couldn't find it
Can you play this campaign alone from the beginning? Maybe playing it controlling both bases? and btw, thanks for making this Turno, i'm a big fan of your work. Thank you very much.
Hello!
I'm the author of the Sentinel campaign for the 2 player hosted project.
I've just finished playing the entirety of your work.
I am most satisfied with the quality of your work. I encountered very few problems, I think your additions are neat - I loved both the sachets and the legendary items - and the save-load code is very easy to use.
I was first skeptical of the "archon-mode" approach, but it worked rather well. Perhaps even more so than the two seperate armies. I played with a friend who doesn't like macro-management and instead likes to focus on just one hero and this setup worked very well for us.
I did not get to play the Anub'arak part of Chapter 7c, but my friend tells me it was great.
On a minor note, a small quip at a thing I did not like: the custom heroes you created, Falric and the Banshee. Their ladder abilities were rather mundane and boring. The Banshee firing Frost Arrows was outright visually displeasing. I would gladly create some flashier abilities that are more fun to use for them, if you want.
Overall, the quality of your work is more than worthy of the two player campaign quality that TheSpoon and I tried to establish and while TheSpoon doesn't visit these forums much anymore, I would personally love to have your campaign included in the official download thread of the two player campaign.
Just say if you are okay with it and I'll put the link in the proper place. Of course, there is no pressure either.
another campaign to play. A living legend you are, Turnro
i wonder if it's a work in progress or finished campaign?
I haven't really played the missions yet, but I have some questions and ideas.
Questions:
-Is there any way to bypass turn the QWER hotkeys into ZXCV? because I play with grid hotkeys usually, but the map replaces them. So when I press Q it orders a move command and when I press Z nothing happens. Is there a way other than going in the maps and manually changing the abilities?
-Do the Sachets save at the end of the mission?
Ideas:
I think I think custom heroes should not have abilities already used in campaign like Death and Decay. But using Tinker, Alchemist, Firelord abilities and Big Bad Voodoo (The ability that Rokhan doesn't have) is ok. Tinker Cluster Rockets (reskinned as evil spirits) would be ok. You should also give Sharlindra the Sylvanas Banshee Skin as the custom one looks strange. As for voices I think Falric should have Default Lich/Death Knight, and not Kel'Thuzad voice, and Sharlindra should have the Default Dark Ranger voice so it's not just like any other banshee. And change her class so it's not exacly like the name of a unit. Also a basic ability for her could be Possession, which hides her from the game and teleports her to the target until the target dies and she is unhidden. While possessing she is invulnerable and does not gain any mana/health. Since you only use her for one mission, I don't think she needs an ult. Also give Falric the Kel'Thuzad Necromancer icon. The fan made one looks bad.
There is an error in chapter 8, where i put arthas to control an obelisk, he died in the process, and when i revived him, the effect of controlling obelisk kept happening all the time, and i just wanted to report this. Also, the obelisk control countdown didn't go away and remain 0:00
I found all legendary items, except one (Nerubian Scepter). Any hints where it is? xD
Can I play this with AI as my allies?
What is your reason for asking this? If you play the maps by yourself, the gameplay isn't anywhere different from if you played the original campaign.
