First, I really dont know where must I ask this. I wont flood map developement forum with polls like this (yeah, I will open some polling thread to ask users opinions)

Okay, the question is: what character picking method do you think is the best?
1. Tavern
You know Dota? yeah, it uses tavern for Hero picking
2. Slide
Using arrow key to view another Hero
3. Dialog menu
Just like my flappy bird menus, maybe the worst but saves so many space
4. Interactive menu
Uses trackable and some background picture, well, this method maybe the coolest but taking some spaces.
5. Double-click
First click to show Hero's description, second click to select

the poll is not public but please, answer wisely.

Thanks

me? I choose slide & interractive :p

These are only my opinions, but I used them to decided which to vote for.

1. Tavern - Only good for multiplayers or when you have a lot of heroes.
2. Slide - Cool but nah. Arrow keys has delays and there are times that it isn't really responsive.
3. Dialog Menu - You can really show much info about the hero there, but yeah. It saves a lot of space.
4. Interactive Menu - Yeah, but it'll be hard for you and will take so much more time and space for you. This will be nice but will not be nice if you need every nick of space in your map.
5. Double Click - Cool, doesn't take much space but isn't that attractive.

Voted for 3,4, and 5.

Good luck in your map. :)

You can make it attractive by putting camera objects in each hero and one camera object that can see all heroes.. I use this on my campaign map, when you click the hero the description will be displayed and will zoom in, then click it again to select. If you want to choose different hero just add a trigger that skips cinematic by pressing ESC button to zoom out..

Yeah, I know. I've seen that camera thing being done in billions of other maps and then they use the same unattractive thing: Using game texts / floating texts to show the info.

IDK but using quest messages/game text mesage/floating texts in that way doesn't really look attractive. I guess I'm fine with a line or two of these but to show details of heroes? No. Nicht. Dame. Huwag. Ayaw. -. --- .

EDIT: Now that I think about it, perhaps you could use multiboards to show the hero's info. I remember that didn't look so bad in one map.

I voted for tavern and double-clicking, where it can display a lot of info, since no one fancies to explain what trackable is -,-

What about the classic Circle of Power selection?

I prefer tavern. Simple and effective, while still being able to provide all necessary information.

Trackables is a set of functions that allow for tracking mouse location. Can be used for making custom buttons and, as mentioned here, interactive menu.

About poll, I think tavern is the best. No need for any "cool looking" menus that are annoying or slow.
