Protection W3 Map Optimizer
If you do have any question about this map, register on the official homepage.
I share everything I do, through map open source or systems posted on the board.
The reason the map file is protected is only because of the optimisation which grants a lighter map and, overall, a faster loading time.
As a consequence, this prevent noob-hackers to generate codes.

The map
This map is between a Hero Survivor and an ORPG.
Pick your Hero class, do the quests and try to survive. You may be able to save your experience and the medals earned during the game.
Experience gives you bonus and grants access to more Hero classes.
The story of the map is about the Restricted Complex 601, a private giant-laboratory owned by the Thanatos Industries. It's a global firm leading researches on weapons,

biology, physic...
The RC601 is an underground complex [The first version ever I made was in that complex, but for many reason, I changed it to a game happening on the surface]
Players will be requested to take care of a zombie threat and to follow the orders of their employers.




Game Modes

Story
A mode with more than 50 quests, randomly generated or depending on the success the last quest the team did. Through a game up to 16 quests are playable.
Missions will alternate between base or unit defence, scout, escort, protection, search and destroy...
There are 3 chapters, each one with a final boss (added to the several boss spawned each quest end).

Survival
The team will have to survive to several waves of creeps with an increasing difficulty. Basically, this is a pure survival mode without any other thing to do than survive.

Last stand
The objective is to defend a database in a random base until the army arrives to fight a last boss.

Assault
The objective is to search and destroy NPC bases; there, the players will fight against creeps and NPC.

Team Deathmatch
Same than deathmatch, but players are divided into 2 teams.

Trophy Hunt
The objective is to keep a flag and prevent the opposite team to keep its own flag

A Bridge Too Far
Mode removed.


Difficulty
Training
Not available at the moment

Normal
The basic settings. Normal creeps.

Nightmare
It is like Normal mode with harder creeps (+10 damage and +50% health points, +20% chances to spawn special waves etc.)

Insane
Harder than nightmare; a lot of special waves, more boss or miniboss, creeps with a second upgrade...


Quests
-Complete Quest Trees with random/conditions to make each game different
-Each quest has its own universe of creeps (combinations several unit types)
-Each quest get its own boss
-Each quest success brings experience. If the quest can be failed, and that players fail it, you will not get experience but get an other quest.
-Efficient AI for creeps, allied units and non-hero units to avoid micro-manage. Creeps are able to act with some intelligence (heal, dodge-jump etc).
A part of the creeps will patrol into the direction of the current quest objective, and the other will directly follow the living heroes.
-Proportional difficulty: the more the experience average between players, the harder the game is (Creeps statistic will be improved and chance to get special waves will be

raised)


Heroes
-several heroes with many spells and a different gameplay for each one.
-Each hero has a spellbook with shared abilities
-Each hero has its specific spell tree with up to 16 skills
-Each hero has a different role and gameplay
-Heroes are unlocked if the loaded code provides a rank enough high.


Save System
-Save and load your experience. This allows you to change of hero each game (and avoid a boring unique character).
-Experience brings up to 20 ranks.
-Each rank provides a general bonus (health, mana regeneration, move and attack speed)
-Ranks unlock hero class.
-There is a medal system (since 1.27) for the best players (which also adds little bonus); medals are granted through the achievements of some special stuffs during the game.


Realistic Equipment
Since 1.09 there is no more one weapon/unit and one ammo-type per unit. NPC no longer have limited ammo, excepted they need to reload.
This mean the weapon is "hidden" (no more item to stock in the inventory) for Heroes, and all units have the same ammo-type (item type) they can load or drop from their weapon.
It is less realistic but after a lot of tests, it makes the game less complicated.
Units can carry up equipment, grenades, explosives, weapons...


Dozen systems

-Dozen items which can be combined, consumed, some being class-restricted etc

Restricted Complex 601 is organized around a quest trees: you will not play all quests in a game, but only some of them.
Then, the quest you will get will change depending your last quest was a success, a fail, or, sometimes, an other random choice.

Maybe I'm not the one that has to reply to this, but srsly do not play the game once and write a review, you should play it more often and the game will make more sense. but ok.

Your not the one who has to reply,
and you're wrong about playing it once and writing a review.

If I was just a user in Battle.Net who saw this hosted, and played it once, I would probably never play it again, when I saw it hosted, because it didn't make sense to me the first time.
I have since played it again, and understand it now, but that doesn't change the fact that it just doesn't make much sense the first time around.
If I was super nooby it still wouldn't make sense to me.

Also, try using correct grammar and spelling next time.
I'm a grammar NAZI for the record, and probably am inclined to not take you as serious as someone who uses correct grammar.

Well, you're fine, he was just making an invalid point.

I also know all of your mistakes are grammar related, which I'm assuming is due to the fact that English is not your native language, but his mistakes are things like "srsly" instead of "seriously". Just an unnecessary shortening of words.

This map reminds me mine map, but this map created with more love and artistic things. Great job. I wish i could make mine map like this, but i prefer to stick with "arcade gameplay", which most wc3 maps have.

And this is bad ;D

hi i just registred to tell you this: I LOVED THIS MAP but there was few things that annoyed me:
- spelling (orthographe :))
- we got lost during missions due to no guide at all
- the spawns, i liked them but the rest said they were too much for too long but now i kinda agree
- some skills are bugged
"other than that" this is an excellent map 99/100
cheers on the ideas man!

EDIT: i forgot to rate :p
oh and the items man can you make a smoother system and higher levels?
(example: 1st aid kit+1st aid kit+1st aid kit= lvl3 item instead of 1st aid kit+1st aid kit+1st aid kit+1st aid kit)

Heya got some bugs for you, you probably know about them already but here they are:
I played with the super survival mode with the Marine Leader and encountered a few bugs.

- I only had to skill the book once to get all skills.
- There is no limit on the ''call in reinforcements''-skill in the book
- I like the idea of the Orbital Strike but I think the aoe radius of that thing is too large. some idiot in the game (I suppose it was me) killed everyone just to try it out ^^. you might reduce the area of effect a bit.
- The clones can still attack even though the original hero doesn't have any bullets left. Computers will notice and attack the real hero dooooh.
- Clone level 6 doesn't work.

I also think the first wave of the survival thing is a bit easy. It's easier than the first few quests of the normal mode.
Just completed wave 1 - 109 xp *how did you get this random number and it's rather low don't you think?*

PS. I miss the bridges;<

Marine Leader: already fixed for next version (u are still welcomed on the board http://jk2pach.1fr1.net :p)
Clone removed (not compatible with ammo/hero death systems) and replaced by a defibrilation like biologist with longer cooldown (240s instead of 120s).
Reinforcements: cast a new wave make the old wave belongs to the AI player (dark green).

Survival: noted. I need to test it (never played it online).
109xp = 100 base xp + % due to the survival mode.

I just had a strange idea for a boss..... A boss that you can only see when he attacks you or when your using the night vision goggles. Don't you think its a good boss?

Author's Note,

This map was great, I liked the concept and execution. I myself have never been able to do filters, so if you wanna show me how, I wouldn't mind ;P

Bugs:
1) not really a "bug" but it affected your terrain score by half a point.
Where the old metal bridge used to be in the beginning(where ramp is now). The ramp opposite from the side we start has "terrain leaks" meaning the black is being showed.

2) All tooltips disappeared after I received the first quest...:/ (see screenshots attached)



Recommendations:
Keep up the new ideas and good work.

There is too much too say about what I liked, but I will point out that specifically I really liked the night vision and used it quite a bit now.

can you do so all heroes can switch from their normal weapon to knife and back?

and make mechanist able to make satchels/barricades too
and please make the barricades like this
barricade: no timed life. 350 or 400 hp.
its very annoying that the barricades have timed life.

and make some weapons for ex mp5 for mechanist and m4a1 for security and a sniper for commander just as a ex the items could give more attack speed and damage.

and engineer should be able to make a max of 3 sentrys and 15 barricades.

Timed barricade; I will see ingame. But how the hell you already have Commander with the experience you had yesterday :eek:?
More, If barricade do not have lifetime, player will block the creeps pathing without any limits.

Securities: maybe later. I need to find something which is compatible with the weapon system, and, at the moment, adding 'Abun' (orc bunker that removes attack) again will fail the system.

Sentries: not at all. Its balanced now. On former version it has unlimited sentries, and it was unfair. 1 is really enough.

Knife mode: I do not want it. It's quite simple to do like in NOTD-AM (add a Immolation skill), but I do not want it. I want the reload time of the weapons a critical moment for Heroes.

Satchels for mechanist: never. It's already really easy to find satchels and to seal caves however there is no Demolition Expert (who has satchel and the command to set satchel explosion delay) on the game.

i dont have commander i died and asked a freind to share units :D and he did so i saw all hes skills and the barricades had timed life.

and you can just make the barricades damage enemys 1-1 and make it have a attack range of 100 so they could start attanking the barricades?

i only got 3000 or 3500 exp
and you need some more heroes try make some new :D i like games wit alot heroes to choose and i know the only hard ting is to find/make some spells for them but i believe you can do it :D.

but knife mode wasnt to copy notd at all it just fits in a zombie survival game..
and seriusly why not 2-3 sentrys for engineer max it doesnt have to be unlimited lol

and can you give the helicopter ability to land? so it can load up 2 or 4 units?

and make a bonus rescue mission were you can rescue some marines and get the control of them plz :D

and can i get admin on your bot btw?

oh and tell me if i come wit too many ideas xD

nice job on the map jk2 one thing im wondering is why remove the parasite spores vision on the map if you jsut happen to run over them if thats not what the change log means im sorry i misunderstond your meaning. i was wondering why the little goblin things for the machnist hurt buildings when they explode.

I think that I got a bug: The Mechanics got a abillity to "summon" a GW-fury (cyclone, whatever), this abillity works perfectly, BUT, the GW, when switched to the Minigun the reload instead of 400, the max mana of GW, it just reload 30, the max mana of GW in Cannon mode, it's bad because the reload take a long time and the Cannon don't are effective against little/medium monsters (zombies u.U)

I liked too much the rank system, it really increase the motivation to play the game again ^^

its a very well game, but i found a rare thing, when i played with friends online, all the zombies didnt move in the south of middle base, without moving and they stack. that happens in chapter 3. and the ranks lowled are nice, thanks

dunno what happened but so many mobs screwed this map... before I played this with 5 friends and we could not even reach the chapter 3 and I mean recon sniper mecha etc, but was fun cuz the average points in each round was 300 or more. but now there is bosses each 3 mins and mobs everywhere we can't even finish the first chapter boxes are bugged and WTF TWO GIANT PUDGES AT BEGGINING!?... I used to love this map...

Alexmantor. The trick with the Force Recon... is to build up some good items as fast as possible. Then use your robot the frog one to make items for you teammates. Oh. And to kill bosses alone and easily use your robots as bait and then use a satchel right as the boss is coming.

That's true. Same thing happened to me(oh wait, I was playing with camuzcado :O). Anyways... love this map :D

So this map looks great, very promising. However, I can't seem to play it. About two or three minutes into each game, I abruptly drop (or, if I'm hosting, everyone else drops). No other map does this to me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

lol I'm still playing the 1.34 version the newest one has too many mobs that comes from everywhere!... the new chars are not enough reasons to play it. why you don't just update the game without make it harder each time? I have 15000 points by the way :thumbs_up:

mmm you play your own map? because if you do and you get 1000 ponts average in the new version is because all the players have high ranks and know how to play... however everyone here sucks and I'm the only one who like the map and others who did like too are not playing anymore cuz the low point rate ...by the way I have 16000 points by playing the 1.34 :thumbs_up: and I would like you tell me how tu survive at least the first chapter in the 1.46 version :cute:

You are outdated then. Average player xp is over 20K from regular players. They are lot of game played on 1.40+ since a second bot has been added by the Us East clan AIS, more than my own bot.

To survive, play with your team. This is not a Resident Evil map (basic survival mode could be considered like this), I want it harder. It is harder. And playable.

Yes I play it. (with my different nicknames, I play arround 3 games a day, depending on my free time.)

hi Jk, i play today the actually version on your Hostbot and
saw that "Flare" by "Cleaning Force" (CgF) doesn't slows.

Rework plz some durations by the Marine Leader
and set the automatically buffrange to 500 or lower.
( a lot of suicide actions, because of that )

and try to fix the automatically monsterfollow to red (playercolor),
in survival mode you can abuse that with recon. (recon can solo survmode)
(pm me on Northrend for more informations) ;)

And why i gain no Xp in Survival, whan all other player left(dead) ? (a little bit unfair for good player)

Hello every1, im new to this orpg, and i have a problem. When i started playin with my fr we completed the first mission and saved, but after recreating the game we couldnt load our chars.First we tryed to load before we choose chars, then we tryed after choosin.Ive been lookin 'round the posts here but couldnt find a comment like mine, so if u could tell me, wheres the problem with us loading, ty.
