I know there was once an award of this kind, how about reviving it these days adding some categories as:
a. Respected Map Maker - a user who is very helpful and is respected in the said field.
b. Respected Coder - has a good reputation, well known, and is very much nice and knowledgeable in jass, vjass, or GUI or any of these.
c. Respected Artist - is very much knowledgeable and is well-known in digital or none-digital paintings. Preferably, he is working with skins, icons, or any of the like.
d. Respected Modeler - an artist well-known in the field of modeling.
e. Respected Terrain Artist - this user is well-known in the terrain creation process.
f. Global Respect - this user is very helpful in all aspects of warcraft 3 modding community, as in here in hiveworkshop.

Each of these categories shall have a unique icon as an award, and the user should be active to gain such award. If, on the next year, the same user has been chosen his award shall have to level up. All users are allowed to suggest any other users deserving for the said award. As soon as the suggestion is done and the thread is closed, there shall be a poll. The poll shall be voted by users who have knowledge about the candidate's activity in hive. The candidate who gained more votes shall win for each category.

This awards shall be done each year. With this, users will engage more in their chosen field. I do hope that hive continues thriving and alive.

Nope, you shall get the respected coder one:)

Hardly, but anyway.. HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY MODELING SKILLS. I can actually create an square!

Now seriously, I think stuff like this is both fun and interesting but instead of starting something new (like this) why not just do the user of the year / merit badge? because that's basically the same thing.

I would prefer to be respected for my abilities or helpfulness without the badge. I enjoy when people don't know who I am and I can slam them for not respecting me for all those things that I can do, like... whatever you get the idea.

Not that it ever happens; but it could! And it would be glorious!

That is true, but then the world cup doesn't need a prize either. It's just a showoff than you can take out and show in 10 years and say "this is what I managed to do back then" because out of all those users people help, how many do actually remember that you helped them later on? The respected coder for example would just be to show that I was helpful back then.

That's how I see it anyway.

Actually, it's not about me getting credits NOR would I take credits for it... because I didn't create it.

Also, judging my post by the number of times word X appears in it is... inaccurate? To say the least. Considering I almost seem to be underlining or even agreeing with some of the lies divulged around here two years ago.

The fact that you feel the rep system has been deprecated and you need a badge to appreciatingly distinguish actually respected members from regulars, without atleast attempting to adress the flaw that have spawned the need for this, already tells much.

waste of time and energy
basically, this. People getting shit done are already distinguishable enough, irregardless of as how they appear.
