Hey all :D

i just got an idea for a system and i have 2 questions regarding this system.


1. What do you think of my idea?

2. My idea is not finished yet so what would you add/change/whatever?


so now to my system idea:

in my map i wanna add reputation for finishing certain quests. reputation would be separate for each city (and maybe for small camps too....lets see^^).

reputation would be needed for :
-being able to take certain quests
-get to certain areas (for example kings castle)
-being trained to the next 'form'
-get more gold from selling items
-being able to buy from certain shops
-exp is given depending on the reputation you have in the area the quest giver belongs to
-need more ideas ;D

reputation is affected by:
-quests
-killing bosses/citizens/guards
-buying from 'dealers'
-more ideas? ;D

max reputation value would be 100 (positive & negative) even if you do more quests adding reputation.

Regular idea. The use you give to it is what could make it interesting, like.. what happens if it gets bad reputation, if it's even possible?

bad reputation....hmmm nice idea :D i like it....could be added for killing citizens or not finishing timed quests. nice idea ;D i really like it ^^
 
1. In gameplay constants, make item sell ratio 1 (which means you sell and buy at the same price)
2. Trigger it so that when you sell an item, you get the amount of money procentually proportional to your reputation. If your reputation is 35%, you only get 35% of the money. Also make it so that some people won't trade with you if you have bad reputation, but also make 'dealers' that will sell anything to anyone, at cheap prices, but selling and buying from them decreases your reputation if a city guard or a citizen sees you (just check if there are units in a certain radius around your hero).

This should be on map development area.

Anyway, give it a good use. You could make some quest that requires bad reputation, and others that requires good reputation, each one with it's consequences, and so on. Make story lines to gamers can choose a path... I don't know... Just make it more than "Kill 10 golbins to get 5 reputation". Make it needed for items, quests, areas, abilities, units, etc.

Amazing suggestion made by Happy Tauren. Make it worth it's weight in gold.

Spartipilo my map doesnt really have a storyline....so making the story changing depending on the quests you make is not possible :D but the quests will require bad and good reputation.

Here's mine:

-> Exp Bonus. A low reputation will give only 50% of exp, and high gives out 125%
-> Items. Set items cannot be held if reputation is lower than X
->Influence. A high reputation means higher class of items ( if the low reputation they give out Axes, if high rep, they will give Poison Axes etc. )

Reputation is affected by :

-> Death Rate. Death means lowering reputation by X%.
-> Sell/Buy Ratio. Higher buy rate means higher classes of items, meaning higher economy, meaning you are like their 'sponsor' to raise the city's efficiency. If you sell too much though, the economy will deplete ( because you are selling junk, meaning they give gold for junk, and JUNK is not marketable.)

okay heres my review to your ideas :D :

exp rate: will change the idea a bit ^^ quest will give exp depending on your reputation in the area the quest giver belongs to.

Items: dislike the idea that you have to have a certain reputation for being able to wear certain items...thats not logical

Influence: intresting idea...would force me to write a system but that should be possible....will be added i think :D

Death Rate: again not really logical...when you die your reputation will be reduced? why?

Sell/Buy Ratio: again an itresting idea :D would be combinable with the Influence....

In a map I worked on (I thought the leader's ideas were stupid and the terrainer went inactive so project busted) there was a simple reputation system with 5 cities:
(In my defence he wanted ^^^ a % chance that player is spawn with an imba super hero)

1st Mages city
Positive rep - Boosts some spell effects
Negative - decreases them

2nd Knight city
Positive rep - reduces incoming physical dmg by small % (like max of 5 or 10) and boosts some possitive skills
Negative - reduces the effect of some possitive skills

3rd Assassin city
Positive rep - boosts dmg vs. heroes and bosses and assassin-like skills
Negative - reduces dmg vs. heroes and bosses and assassin-like skills

4th (I think it was trader city or something like that)
Get more gold from trading betwen cities
Negative gets less gold

5th Nature (I think, I didn't understand what the leader wanted with this one) city
Positive - I think he wanted when a the hero is on grass tile to get hp and mp regen
Negative - Reduces hp and mp regen

sorry nedio but i dont like the idea of having effects/passive abilities added to the heroes depending on the reputation in certain cities....

i will trigger it on my own so i can use what i need and make it work like i want it ^^ but if i have a problem anywhere ill ask you xD thanks ^^
