What's this?

In this game mode, each unit you make comes out with randomized abilities, stats, and model. The challenge is to make the best of the units and abilities you're dealt!

You can train the following unit-types. Each type has their own pool of models and abilities they can have, to help preserve some coherence in the gameplay.
  • Melee Unit - Has melee range or a huntress bounce attack.
  • Ranged Unt - Piercing Attack and Medium Armor.
  • Assault Unit - Unpredictable unit. Could be flying, land, ranged, melee, slow, fast, magic spells, siege... who knows?
  • Elite Unit - These are the biggest, baddest beasts for devastating your enemies.

You can try this out right now. Download is in the attachments.

Races

The four races still keep their standard workers, buildings, and race-specific quirks (Ultravision, Militia, etc.). It's specifically their combat forces that get randomized.
Undead still start with a Ghoul for lumber and can train more (from the Necropolis now), but they are generally going to be weaker than the Melee units you get from the Crypt (which can also harvest lumber - but only for Undead).

Heroes

Heroes also get randomized, regardless of being trained from an Altar, or hired from a Tavern. You never know what you're going to get!

Any time a hero dies, its revival will also cause it to be re-rolled. So if you like your hero, try to keep it alive!

If you're not happy with your hero, you can also purposefully re-roll it by using a Tome of Retraining from the Goblin Merchant.

AI

Want to try this out without having to gather some friends?
Computers can play as well. I wouldn't say they're very smart (I'm not good at writing AI), so it's better to play with others if possible.
But I am pleased to say that the computer players are able to seamlessly handle their heroes getting regularly re-generated, which was a core objective of mine here.

Graphics

I've only tested this in Classic Graphics, so that's what I recommend. Custom models will probably fail to appear if you play with reforged graphics.

The following custom assets are currently used:
I'd also like to extend a big thanks to TriggerHappy for making War3 TypeScript which helped make this actually fun for me to work on as well as the regulars on the Hive Discord for helping me out whenever I got stuck.

If you try this, please let me know what you think!

Thanks.

I'm back with my first update to this project, and it's a big one! See the OP for the updated map file.

Two new unit types have been added - Casters and Siege Units.

Additionally, many hero abilities have been added.

Perhaps the addition that took the most amount of effort was Metamorphosis. In keeping with the theme, every hero had to be able to convincingly use it!

And now, they can!

Try it out to see what your hero looks like in demon form!
