Demise of the Death God

Idea of map is to choose a character and then start to clear castle full of undead, there are boss fights and loot.
We are developing that you can play map, alone or in group size three players. There is 18 bosses in the castle. There is currently.. err.. 5 or 6 bosses without triggers.
BECAUSE there is so damn many bosses, they are not such epic battles that you could imagine (nothing like in CloudWolf's Diablo 3 map). Boss battles are deadly but they wont last so long and there wont be many phases and blablabla awesome stuff like in some pve maps can have.

We are currently importing and modifying spells to heroes (Don't worry, you are gonna have your name in credits if we use your spell).

The difficulty level of the map is kinda high at the moment without healer. We are trying to balance that part... then we are gonna look at the trash and that kind of stuff bit more when we have time. At the moment, battles are like I have already said, 3 to 7 mobs at time. WoW instance style. I'm dreaming about some massive battles and that kind of things.... but maybe I'm gonna fulfill those dreams in our next pve map... (Yes, we have started to thinking of our next project xD)

I'm imporving the terrain as always when I'm at active mood...

We have probably forgotten the stacking item system, because in my opinon, it's not gonna work. There is some loot what we should do too... At the moment, trash only drops runes (restoration, healing, lesser healing, mana....) but I don't know should they drop anything else because there is shops ( Tomb of Relics ) and bosses drops loot of course...

And we have thinking about the some camera systems... ( just going to change point of view ) just because it's gonna make the map more cooler... ( Yes, we stole idea from CloudWolfs D3 map :p)

Ressing system is kinda poor atm... (tavern like ress from the cross). We are maybe gonna change that too...

Map's file size is 6.33mb at the moment. It's kinda big but I don't think it's a problem. We don't know are we gonna import anything anymore... so the file size can be changed someday...

So... there was some information...
I hope that did "light up" something.

I'd like to hear what you are thinking about that stuff... so commets, critics and that kind of stuff please!

There are 12 unique heroes to choose from. With own custom skins and abilities. Four for every primary stat, agility, strength, intelligence.
(These pics are bit old nowadays, so they look bit diffrent atm.)

The project seems to be good, but the terrain could need some more work sorry.
Also some more information could be good. Here is a list of suggestions in the first post:
  • What is done
  • The heroes
  • Maybe their spells too
  • Story if there is any
  • Why should we play THIS map
  • Other information wich could be useful

the name is copied off a WoW achievement, good thingi ts not the final name >_>

anyways, sounds fun :)

Name of the map was just a joke, cause me and Garshilan haven't invented name yet :D
I'm glad to hear it sounds fun :)

But anyway....

UPDATE:

Our epic terrain is now propably completed on old rooms and in some new rooms.

So pictures from new terrain and finally from heroes has been now uploaded to http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/members/173034-albums2304.html

Ps. skills of the heroes will be posted when those are ready, nerfed, buffed.

UPDATE

Updating of boss fights has started!
Boss fights will be more dificult and more fashionating after this chance...
I'm going to look at heroes at same time...

Trying to make these nearly complete at next week because of i have one week long holiday ahead \o/

I will test the map in dualplayer mode at next weeked, going to test map with "Meter of fun".

Sounds classic, but looks very cool, though IMO you're using the dark-castle theme a little too much. But if the heroes can light it up as they proceed, it would be very awesome!

The heroes' abilities could have a little bit more of trigger-enhancing.

It is pretty dark indeed... I dont think it should be light it up cause it's one castle, full of undead. But we must think... but those are not even in game screenies, so you must wait until you see ingame pictures :) In my opinon, in game is not so dark as World Editor...

And I agree with that trigget enhancing abilities, it could be nice. But the fact is: I don't know anything about those because they are too complicated for my small mind. But second fact is... those are not even needed, if the map is fun to play without those. But I'm currently working with those and goal is to have even one trigger-enhancing spell to each hero. If I even can do that, I will thank hive with those spells

your tooltips are HORRIBLE, really. horibad, but that isn't a problem. its easy to fix.

this spel has an ultimately long cooldown. isn't correct english. in almost every tooltip. there is a grammatical error.

i can fix it for you guys if you want to.

I know there are typos.. alot of 'em :p I think that's cause we are both from Finland ( so english is not our native language :p) and we aren't yet even passed "junior high school".

, :p i don't need the map. i can give the correct grammars right here. you can add them if ye want to. English isn't my native tongue either, but im following a bilangual course, consisting 60% of my lessons in english ;)

Hey mates!
Just a question: How the fighting gameplay is ? I mean in the map description you say "full of undead". Does it mean there are LOTS of units ? In this case are they each easy to kill ? Its hard to explain my point of view so for example do battles looks like Diablo II or like Warcraft 3 ? (units with 1 in the first case and 600 in the second).

I dont know if you get me?

That is good question indeed. So... Naah, it's not so "full" that describtion says :p it is more like WoW instance, about 3-7mob groups, maybe more. We are trying to modify the mobs and that kind of things... but i can say mobs and bosses are pretty hard so it is no easy. We are thinking how we get map balanced, because it is pretty damn hard without pure healer (White):p and there is some points, what is just so hard even with healer :D if you know what i mean.

But i think we are gonna make some places pretty huge encounters.
Like in Rider of Black encounter, when you got his hp to half, he start running, and spawns army of skeletons to after himself.

Really nice screenies. One thing I didnt liked. I suggest removing the shiny blue carpet in the Darkness room.
I am also new in mapmaking and am currently working on a similar map but tileset is jungle-like temple.
p.p. what is the map size so far?

In the screen "in the darkness" what is the edited image which you use to make walls totally black?

Ah.. our sexy carpets. The Darkness is realm of the Death God, and the Death God likes his sexy carpets :D So those so shiny carpets will stay :)

Map size question is good :) And i like good Questions.
The map size is 180x148 - playable, 192x160 is full.

But what the hecking edited image, non of those screenies are edited with photoshop or etc. they are... natural, looks like that ingame. ^.-

And Good Luck for your own project :) use a lot doodads for terrain and make a lot of custom skins :)

I guess edited image is not the accurate word but anyway its not my native language too. I meant simply how do you make those dark areas that look great in screens. I guess I havent found a tutorial for this.

p.p. I was actually asking for size like in megabytes.
Grats to you for making a not so big map very detailed in spells and characters. I look forward to see some boss fight.

You can play map alone, with one friend or two friends, so 1,2 or 3 player map.

No damn idea about those tutorials to make that like, never looked at those :)
When we started our map, the map did't look so... attractive. We started to imporve terrain with doodads. And I guess we did make some succes :)
So everything looks like this atm with practice by own.

But the great black is made with smoke smudges, what is huge as hell.
And with using Light.mdx doodad with torches and that kind of things, you can get very nice looking things done :D

Map size is ultimately big. It is 7mb. Because we uploaded ALL DOODADS from ultimate terraining map. As you can guess, we are deleting those models, often, because there is too much tree,sunken ruins and that kind of models what we don't need... so i think the final map size is going to be like 5.8mb or something.
I know it is very big, but because we have custom skinned nearly everything so... :p

Revolve, if you use just black flat, it is doesn't look so smooth on places such that, i mean shadow doesn't go at walls and that kind of things. It looks more Cool when you use smoke smudge ^_^

Yes I am also using smoke smudge but I have no idea how to make it like diagonal or vertical, not only horisontal. There are some points in the editor that make objects bend. For example if I put a tree on a ledge it will bend to the ground. Probably I can use the same for smoke. I will try it.
