The only thing we have come too that close is when I was taking a networking course at my school some guy had it on his Ipod and we played Dota all day. That's when dota got ruined for me!

Well, removing all maps except the ones you want should save a lot (My maps folder is 722mb, remove the custom campaign (demo camp = 2.5mb) The movies folder = 193mb..

Support = 4mb, remove all screenshots.. Yeah, I think you could make it portable, even better now that it is patched, you don't even need to crack it / have a cd.

So you do this stuff to, don't ya?

I recommend you to look at the different HDD's the computer has, sometimes schools have a C:/ disk for storage on that computer and network HD's. I don't recommend to put games on the C:/ disk unless that computer is 'yours'.

The network HD's can be used to dump stuff on like essays or stuff. There is - most of the time (on my school) - a security on those network drives to prevent people to put unwanted stuff in it (games too), but the security often gets turned off when people must dump stuff on it. I tried it when classes had to place photo documentries on the disk. I put Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe and the first two GTA games, it was fun.

Oh and, most of the schools who got this system often got an anti-installation system in it, to prevent games to be installed. So I recommend you to use unrar&play games (torrent would work).

Hmm, talking about the subject, I may put Mafia on it =p

Everything at my school goes true the school network. We have a H: (That is your own space) I: (Information) and an O: (Homework deposit lulz) The problem is that we require the game to be put on a stick because the whole network is secured so you won't be able to run a game from for instance the I: or O: because it will prevent you from doing that.

You also aren't allowed to copy files like .dll to your own space so that is also out of the question. And no you can't copy homework from others from the O: to your drive because it also is protected ^^

What about your own space H? Is that secured as well?
I remember that we could install or copy a game to our own disc and then run it on each computer- Q3 and such ;) Tho they removed it after a few months. You could always rename the map folder to something which makes it appear like a schoolwork:p I did that on my moms pc at her school and it worked^^

lol i remember 3 weeks before leaving the school for good i put halo in some weird school drive, and every single computer in school, was occupied by some kid playing LAN... thou i had to make multiple copies since some smart teachers and their student pets would rat out the location and try deleting it...

i solved that by making folder mazes (lots of folders in folders in folders ect)

its so fun to mess with the system! :xxd:

Yeah, delete excess maps (multiple versions, DotA etc.) and excess folders (movies, screenshots, campaigns) and put it on a usb. You can also use an MPQ editing file to get rid of the singleplayer campaigns, though they are rather small.

Throwing away maps is useless, the map folder is not bigger then ~ 25 mb.

How can i delete sounds and music and things like that? I don't see them... are they in the MPQ?

EDIT: I found a program which i can us to edit MPQ's the only problem is that it doesn't seem like i can save them.

You could try MPQ master. If you are only going to play on LAN then I guess it wont desync if you modify the Mpq the same on all. In that case you could remove excessable files used on b.net as well.

I tried it but i couldn't find a save option.

Just use PowerMPQ

Yeah i downloaded that one first, but i didn't knew how it worked. It gave an error, and when searching on google i noticed several people had the same problem =/

EDIT: I am now able to put it on a 1 gb stick, all maps included its like 867 mb or something because i deleted some files. So we were able to play it on LAN today at school ^^.

However i still think it can be a lot smaller. like 650 mb, and thats why i wanted to delete those sound files etc. from the mpq.

Lol, theres a 20mb version of Starcraft available, seeing as they both use MPQs, it will be possible to get WC3 to a tiny size too!

Yeah well that's what im trying...

But euhm, Starcraft's full size is? (Suprised if it's over 500 MB)

Warcraft 3 is 1.05 GB when fully patched/installed including TFT.

My portable version now is ~867 MB which is hardly a real portable =p
