So, I am developing a new project. Out of lack of better names, I'll call it Warcraft: Total War for now.
I've got a good start on systems and object data, but I'm at a rut for overall game design.

So, I've made a popularity poll!

This poll didn't really tell me much.
But, I want to create something fresh, and something I don't see too much.
I think I'll make a RTS-styled map that focuses on macro control in the LARGE scale.

I'm talking, like:
- massive choreographed battles in wide open (yet pretty) battlegrounds
- emphasis on high-ground advantages
- terrain effects on units (forests giving cover, water slowing units down slightly, roads increasing movement speed maybe?)
- flanking causing significant debuffs
- maintaining a formation being critical to managing army defenses

A world map idea is possible, but... hmm. Maybe only use heroes on the world map? Make them represent armies, and allow them to perform hero actions...
Hell, I may even make a map with different game modes:
1) RTS mode; where you gain resources and build up as you go
2) Battleground mode; where there's a timed phase to set up an army with given resources, then a battle phase to annihilate your opponents' army (or armies) with your army composition
