I do believe that a permanent RPG camera would suck ass as I hate how it swivels around madly when you turn the focused unit around >.<. It was only a possibility, and even if we did use it, we would make it optional. It might just be me personally, but I think that RPG cameras suck ass. I'd rather feel free to move around with an overhead camera.

As for the Rattata model, I thought that would be easier than Beedrill, surely! Well, you'd know better, anywayz (as you are the modeller and I am not :p). I think it goes without saying that I'd like all the models to look just like the pictures from Pokemon to get the feel of the Pokemon game (e.g. Rattata should probably look ready to strike just like in the standard picture of it).

Haven't heard any more from HappyTauren yet :(, I will try and contact him.

it IS the system we are going to use,
in fact, it is already implented, in (another) fact (or how you say it)
this system was requested by ME! =P
And i also hate how you always follow the units facing -.- ,, And i think it would be quite annoying too, since you move with mouse and not with arrows,,
 
Wazz, Rattata is more difficult because it has contact to the ground, so its animations should look convincing in terms of physics, thats a quite hard thing to do, bedrill, in the other hand, as butterfree, only shake wings and move legs freely, as it wants, with nothing to collide.
also the rigging is much more complex to rattata, bulbasaur, nidorans, rhyhorns...etc... than to venomoth, butterfree, beedrill...
I think that the first one will be a rigged template to all the others of its kind.

I did the Kakuna, it looked so awsome, it was quite hard to do, since kakuna is mostly "round"... but u guys guess what?
3dsmax crashed. i lost the kakuna.
so i started it again with no patience at all and i did it in a 'quite ok' way, i guess...

about the rattata anims...yeah, they are gonna be as agressive as i can do them...a model isnt static as a photo, so you will get the picture's feeling by the attack animation easier.

@ thedeathunterxx: Yes we use RPG cam, but its optional, standard cam is like in the Pkmn games,,

@ HappyCockRoach: I think the head is a little small, I think the proportions of head-body is a little out, i think the head should be a little bigger, not wider, just a little higher,, But it looks nice!

We also need Geodude!

Kakuna looks nice! The head is much better now! (if you edited! xD,, cause it might be the angle) and LoS is right, though he could also be right about that it could be the angle xD

@ thedeathunterxx: Still we need to know: What is your favorite Pkmn? xD

Ah yea, almost forgot!
I think you should upload them! The Hive could use some more Pkmn models, but since they have no decay/bone animation, idk,,
My opinion: Upload, but i dont know if they will approve it without bone/decay anim =\

But i have been searching, and you might also use one of those textures: (just a suggestion)

Cause Gyarados is already Wazzz' favorite, and Kimpakim7 has Charizard (though i am not sure he is still on the team, since no contribution has been given so far)

the ones who are takin it seriously are
first of all Yixx, of course, I am, Wazzz, HFR, it seems lord_of_sausage helps u out with triggering and etc, but the others are as helpful as people outside the team
its a shame Darksz isnt showin up, we could use many icons...
i hope this signature is definitive...

Hey guys,
just saw what you all were doin and wanted to say I think it's AWESOME. We really need a good pokemon map after 13lur gave up on his... actually I started my own, but it's on a long (possibly permanent) break.

anyway, I was interested in what model you were using for Scyther? He's my favorite pokemon, and he was one that I had a lot of trouble with in my map.

Keep up the good work!
 
Probably a custom model, my friend, with satyr animations i suppose...

The third sig (the middle size one) is still too big =(
Check my sig, i put it in there (and linked it to first page of this Thread! >=] )
But now we cant see any names anymore =P
Could you fix that, or do i just resize it to the desired size?

I remember knowing someone who loved Persian. They used it in a Pokemon save to the extent of getting it to like lvl 50 before the League (this was in Gold/Silver). Using the Pay Day, they were getting a lot of extra money lol.

And don't forgot, my name has 3 z's (Wazzz), not 2 >.<. Plz fix this. Don't mean to sound picky, but it's like spelling Yixx with one x (Yix), or HFR with 3 letters cut out ( ).

I'm confused as to what you are asking. The only thing I can think of to say that may answer your question is that (in risk of repeating myself once again) there will be the single player campaign thing that you make progress in and the multiplayer map where your progress will be transferred across. Other than that, your question leaves me impotent.

What model you working on now, though? I mean after the sig, of course. It's Butterfree, isn't it? Would that be hard to do, or really easy? And what about (now I look at the sig) Kanghaskan? Would he be hard to do?

I have a vision for this map. I feel that with your models, we could make this map look more like a 3D Pokemon game than anyone ever has for Warcraft 3. And (I know you don't like thinking about it, so might I suggest not thinking? Lol) with the Gold/Silver Pokemon, we would have the capability to take this map as far as we need to in order to make it the best damn Pokemon mod ever!
 
visions and plans. i think we got through this stage long ago. at least i did. you can start concrete work.
if concepts are your task, start ability concepts, we can use the pokemon moves:

here you will find a database with all the moves. i suggest u to keep only their names and uses, and try doing them the most fun and dynamic as possible

about gold/silver... no comments. this is madness, or a single-player map.
unless you compress the models to 50% size

btw im working on beedrill. but this weekend i wont have much time to work on it.
 
Interesting link, Cockroach, but have you checked out Bulbapedia? That's where (I think, anyway) we're getting ability ideas from.

Also, I'm not sure how the battle system will work. I think it will be somewhat like a combination of the classic gameboy Pokemon games and the Pokemon Stadium (In other words, a flashier, 3D version of it), so I think we'd be keeping the classic battle system, only with more eye candy :D

As for the madness. I'm manager. I'm a mad man. I like to envision the best potential for everything, and will go straight for it. However, we must keep in mind that we'll be getting no where without the fundamentals. So, we start with the Pokemon Red models. Once they are all done, you can take a break. After such a break, I'll PM you asking if you feel ready to do some more modelling. The rest is up to you.

As for the madness, I feel comfortable in my own insanity. And people like my visions. The only trick is fullfiling them.
 
Lol, well, I'd rather finish this after Doomsday with it being complete rather than post an unfinished, wannabe mod just for the sake of getting it done :p

Do you mean to say that people will forget Warcraft modding and move on to Starcraft 2? Cause there will be some limitations in Starcraft 2 in terms of modding, I believe (no hero units, for one :p)

Well, about 30 - 40 % of the Wc3 players will change for SC II...

Back to the topic, let's think of our first map/campaign with the standard 100 - 150 pokes. Then we will think of the second.

And HC don't need to make all the models because:

1 - Yixx already mentioned in the first posts that he'll don't gonna make all the pokemons, just about... 100...

2 - WC3 has lots of good models we can use as pokemons, like the modified-floating-heightned rock golem for the geodude.
 
Well, think about it. There are still many people who play the original Starcraft. Hell, it's a national sport in Korea! They get personal trainers for it and everything, but that's neither here nor there. The point is, even old games live on, and I think Warcraft has such a huge fan-based mod community that it will live on. Even WoW didn't stop Warcraft.

And i think Warcraft will get less attention now, but still it will be played and modded, though it will decrease modding/playing members greatly in the beginning, and keep on decreasing,, but look at Call of Duty, there are still people who play CoD 1!
WC3 will not just die, even if almost all people stop playing it, there will still be people who keep on playing, just because 'It is Warcraft!'

Finaly big study week is over and time for WC3 mod is coming (not fully there yet -.- ),,
still got some work to do,, but the biggest part is over,,

And i got a bit of a phucked up problem, when trying to battle, the Pokemanz spawn at the center of the map, so my cam is on the battlefield, and when i try to run there is a spot in the black minimap right at the middle =P
I gots to figure out why but ill manage that! =P

found it! I tried to set a position which there wasnt! =P
I think i'm going t optimize the Battle system (especially the AI) for the Demo
Set the Attacks, and Generate them,,
Then i think i need to make the Gym,,
And then probably there is quite some more to do! =P

EDIT: Help needed! I dont knwo what tile to use for the hometown! =(
The path between houses and where you walk on is now like a city,
But it is certainly not a village, it is a little town, but when i try to use Dirt, or Grassy Dirt it looks bad,
Also when i use stones it is even worse!
Any help? =(

Major question for everybody:
I totaly hate the Grass blizzard cliff! I never use it, and i never intend to use it!
So i am thinking of totaly changing the tileset to replace the Grass cliff with Snow cliff,, This will give a better snow tile, and i can use a nicer Dirt tile, cause the one now is too dark in my opinion,,

So: What do you think:
1. Replace the Grass cliff with Snow (and maybe cause an extreme suck terrain and have to redo alot)
2. just keep it this way with sucky grass cliff which will never be used and could be used alot better?
3. Use a custom texture to turn Grass into Ice, and use an other grass tile for Grass

Yeah, but the snow tile takes 2 places, right? And the snow is a Cliff tile, right?
If not, then i think there is no problem,, and i am just really blind :grin:
But i think i could use the Grass cliff better then, cause now it is only useless tile,, ya the grass is used, but the cliff aint!

Heightened mountains and hills are your best friends in elevated terrains. Forget the blizz cliffs, they sucks, and most mods an users think that too.

The cobble and stone path are really village like, and using the stone tiles for an path is an bad idea. And, remember, the Lordaeron Summer tileset is the

Worst Tileset Ever!

It has an bad, and too "happy" collors, an bad choice. Good grass tilesets are mainly, the Ashenvale and some Village grass and dirts.

I think, as i see all the comments, the mountain is gonna be heightened terrain and pathing blockers,,

But for the snow, there is no nice snow tile that is a non-cliff tile! Only ice!
